S390
Zwear
Zfinite
Z-finite is essentially LC200N, no?

If its Zfinit which I think is what Zapp industries named it then yes. On the Alpha knife supply page for lc200n, they say lc200n=zfinit=cronidur 30

M398 added. S390 had already been added. Zwear and Z-finite are identical to steels already used.

I put just + to 15V - Sal didn't say that tests were finished with positive result and knives WILL be made from it for sales, or did he?

The only things that I know of for sure, that Sal has said about the 15V, that is in-house, and being tested already. Has been this >

We tested 15V and don't think anyone would complain about it.

Ok, that does sound good enough. :)

Gimme more indications: which did Sal confirm to be considered? Being tested? More than that?

In context.
He has ordered and purchased the steel, and it has been delivered.
He then got a recommend heat treat protocol, from Deadboxhero.
Sal then made a 'blade' out of it.
It tested well! :D

He also got a knife design, from Deadboxhero. To consider using in the future, for a possible knife collaboration. Possibly/probably, with this steel choice (15V).
:)

Böhler - Uddeholm M398 ☝️😎
Wow, that's an interesting one!

I'm really looking forward to 15v. I'd like to see HAP72, Vanax (or similar for the sake of cost), Vancron superclean, and a few other high end performance steels.

I've always been intrigued by 9V. It's amazing that a steel so similar to k390 can't be heat treated optimally for cutlery. For the life of me I can't say remember what the issue is. I guess good hardness and stability can't be achieved.

Come on guys, let me know: which feedback gave Sal to the steel you proposed or asked for?

How is everything going for you, archangel? Great I hope! :)

I see we have a darn good list here now. :spyder:

Vanax
S45VN ++
Vanadis 4 V4E
Vanadis 8
Vancron SC
Rex121
Rex54
Rex M42 (Crucible) // Micro Melt M42 (Carpenter)
Rex T15
Sleipner
15V ++

HAP72
SRS-15
S390 Microclean
M398
K490
PD1

This should keep us busy, and interested. For quite some time! :D

K490 is a hot one. HAP5R is another interesting grade in the lower carbide volume, 3v esque category.

Also worth noting that Larrin from knifesteelnerds has mentioned he is working on developing new blade steels.

Thanks Steve, I'm good. Hope you are, too! :)

I really don't follow that many threads here, so I can't really say. But I'm a bit bummed to learn that only S45VN and 15V have been kind of confirmed to appear in a Spydie that is to be released for sales, be it a sprint or a serial production model. I still tend to hope that there are more steel that Sal mentioned to have (big?) potential, and a future in Spyderco. You guys need to tell me.

You're right, and apparently that MT is still available. I don't think there was ever any non-Mule spydie with it. And some guys here would love to have it.

Vanax Mules have been produced for testing. I do not know how the price negotiations are going, but Sal has said that samples have been made and tested.

Quote from the Vanax Mule thread...

"We made a mule for testing which I am doing now in the kitchen and outside. We also made some CATRA mules which we'll also be testing this afternoon.

Best regards,
CK
