What knives have made the change to BD1N?

#1

Post by Doc Dan »

Does anybody have a clue as to which models have actually made the transition to BD1N?

But in reality, there is nothing quite like a gun. And it has been said, "The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun".

Does that complexity decrease the simplicity? Not at all.

Also, it’s my understanding that it’s a rolling change so if you’re looking for a model that it supposed to be swapping over... ask them to look before sending it your way.

I want a M2LW, but not blue because I already have that color in BD1. I’ve been tempted by the UKPK somewhat. The Cat will likely not be as nice as my old one with the jimping so I’ll pass on that one.

Not sure if one would call it a transition per se, but the Para3 LW is another.

I’m really looking forward to seeing what this steel can do. I wish there was a pocket knife for me to use. Maybe I’ll get a Cat just to work it out.

I understand wanting something different. But if you like the manix LW already then I say get another in BD1N, give you a really close way to compare to BD1 in the same knife.

I will. I’m waiting on another color.

This is truth.

In my recent search for a Manix LW in BD1N, it became apparent that some retailers weren’t aware of the change over or which version they had in stock. So it pays to ask even if their website is advertising BD1.

Also, I only got hits on the translucent blue option. It may be the case that this colour is more popular than the others, thus has a higher rate of restocking compared to black and black/DLC. Time will tell.

Me too. It may have been a post of yours that lead me to message Jeff. He didn’t know about the change so you must have gotten lucky?

Does anyone know if the Polestar made the change to BD1N?
Never had one, but looks like a great and very pretty little knife (if you're ok with linerlocks), but does not seem to get much attention.
BD1N might give it another chance??
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

Agree, they are a pretty knife. I’d likely get one, Alcyone too if they go to BD1N.

Any reports of the hardness they're getting from the BD1N?

There was talk in the past about the Polestar/Alcyone getting switched, but they aren’t as popular of models so I’m unsure they would get the switch. I recently became very interested in them though, so I hope they do see the switch.

I heard it changed over. I wasn’t looking for BD1N specifically. I just wanted a manix 2 LW because I gave my old one away. It was a pleasant surprise.
