i am so in for this one. i have wanted to try k390. just one question is k390 just a non stainless m390.

Definitely better edge retention, and a bit more toughness/strength from what I've seen. It's not going to make a great pry bar, but has great edge stability.

That is mostly from a reflection. There are some faint grind lines that the pic doesn’t show, but the blade is ground very smooth and I am liking the natural color and finish of K390.

I think that you are going to love yours.

Mine came with terrible lockstick, it’ll be going back... so did my m390 para 3 lw but I kept it because they’d already sold out. Hopefully better luck with a replacement k390 para 3.

Lock stick is an issue that can be dealt with, trust me. My 52100 Para3 had some terrible sticking, drop of liquid silicone, POOF.

Lock stick is pretty easy to fix. And even if I can't be fixed, I don't really care. I use my knives, and a sticking lock doesn't really bother me. If I made a habit of just flicking my knives all day it might, but I don't.

Here’s mine also first Spyderco. I’m in love! K390 isn’t that bad to work with either. I definitely expected a lot more Time consumed sharpening. Stupid me dropped it putting some microchips On the blade in the first 3 hours of having it. That’s ok got over the fear of using it fast since it is was planned to be my daily driver anyways

If BBS sells an exclusive M390 knife for $189.95 + $14.95 s&h, but a company like DLT would sell the same exclusive for $159.95 with FREE s&h, you are essentially paying a $45 markup for the convenience of not having to compete with a bunch of other folks to buy it in the first 30 seconds of the drop.

I never thought of it that way, but you make it sound pretty attractive.

No. They are completely different. The only thing in common is the numbers "390" and I have no explanation for that.

K390 is definitely not stainless. It has brothers like PM-A11, 10V.
Rex-45 is in a sense the same sort of stuff.

I don't think I'd consider lock stick a QC issue. Some might consider it a virtue. The lock is working, maybe a bit too well, but it'll improve over time. One suggestion, don't flick it open. That only makes it more pronounced because your jamming the lock bar into the lock face even further than it would with normal opening methods. Another note; I've had a few knives with pretty bad lock stick. I still have everyone of those knives and none of them have sticky locks any more. I don't even remember which ones they were. I think one was my Cruwear PM2. It stuck so bad I could hear an audible pop when I unlocked it. It's smooth as can be now

Eh, maybe for a hot model. The last sprint I bought was the CTS204P Military. Paying an extra $45 on that would have been silly considering how long they were available.

I can see the appeal for something that sells out in five minutes though. But I don't have to worry about that, being a fan of bigger knives :)
