Note to self - only let the GF carry stainless knives...

Because she just put my 940 through the wash. Thank god it’s in 20cv 😂

Slightly bitter that even my washing machine couldn’t remove the cardboard box adhesive I’ve been struggling to get off...

Some of her fingernail polish remover will likely take it off.

Both my wife an I have accidentally washed knives.

Brake cleaner is way harsh! A stone and denatured alcohol should handle the adhesive.

Any solvent will remove tape glue.

I sometimes deliberately clip a knife to the pocket of my cargo shorts and send it through the wash. They come out squeaky clean. I dont let them go through the dryer though.

I carry my cap lifter clipitool in my watch pocket and it has been through the wash more times than I can count. I always forget to check that little pocket.

There is a lot to be desired in a knife with H1 or LC200n or N680 steel it seems. We all run our knives through the washer and some more often than others. Hahaha! :D

A stone is less harsh than brake cleaner??? I must be missing something??? The next time I need to sharpen or reprofile a knife i'll try some brake cleaner.

I wouldn’t use brake cleaner. Toxic stuff. Stick with a light solvent like alcohol, mineral spirits or paint thinner. If that doesn’t work try nail polish remover (acetone). If acetone won’t take it off then nothing will. Just avoid any prolonged contact between acetone and composite materials like G10, CF or micarta.

I use brake cleaner to clean the crud off my work knife all the time, brake cleaner is good for everything! The stuff I use is non-chlorinated though and is pretty much plastic safe.

Does that complexity decrease the simplicity? Not at all.

I've ran my Dragonfly Salt through the wash more times than I care to admit. I think there's something subconscious about that knife where I just don't care if it gets washed because it doesn't effect it. It comes out squeaky clean lol.

I have washed my para 3 s a few times. Off topic question. Has anyone had a knife open in the wash?

Honestly this adhesive is on some kind of steroids, rubbing alcohol is my go-to and it hasn’t worked at all for this! Thanks for the suggestions, I’ll give acetone a try.

Lighter fluid (it's the napatha) is my go-to. Instantly dissolves any adhesive.

Rubbing alcohol and a cotton ball works very well. Just lay the blade down flat on a surface so the edge doesn't get you and rub away.
