Any chance of a lil native lw salt?

#1

Post by Supacede »

Outside of work I've really enjoyed my comp lock lil native; I think a slim, lightweight lc200n version would be a great addition to the salt line. It'd be my edc at work, no question. Other than that I'm good with either lock but definitely prefer SE with the wire clip!

I searched forum but didn't find a dedicated discussion on this; my apologies if I missed it.

Thanks!

Its been said that a lil native lightweight is being worked on. Forum search functions can be a pain. I usually find googling whatever your question is followed by the word forums will turn up good results.
If a lil native salt were to happen it would probably be a lightweight variation. It makes sense and this is the formula the native 5 followed. Although it could be a while. Im not holding my breath for it being next year.
Im really hoping for a native chief lightweight as well. With a salt variation of course. Id like to see the whole native family have lightweight versions and multiple steel options. However even if it does happen it could still be a ways off.
As far as a lil native salt goes. I definitely want serrated but I imagine it will have both options. I would prefer the backlock and spoon clip however. I would actually prefer a backlock with very high blade retention and self close and spring tension and an overall very tight knife. This is for my own reasons though and im probably the only one asking for that so ... it probably wont be made like that. Its all good though. If they make one, ill get one or two.

Yeah, I agree it makes sense it will get the treatment at some point. I hope it's sooner than later...with yellow frn.

The chief is a bit large for my uses but it's a beautiful piece.

Does anyone have thickness measurements of both comp and backlock versions at scales? Curious as to how much the backlock slims the knife.

If it's available in FFG/LC200N/SE then absolutely yes. I'm waiting on this exact model to potentially dethrone my Dragonfly Salt.

We have requested this in the past. It’s a good idea.

Exactly the same width. Both measure .44”

Does that complexity decrease the simplicity? Not at all.

Thanks, Ez, I was thinking the backlocks were thinner. Haven't measured my lil native comp lock but I'm sure it's same as yours. Just checked my efficient, it's all of 1/2" thick. Obviously the full liners add to that heft.
Hoping a lw (backlock?) version of the lil native will be closer to 3/8" with the nested liners..

My guess is that any Lil’ Native LW that comes out will be linerless like the rest of the Golden made lightweight models, so while not necessarily any thinner, they certainly live up to their name.
