I honestly feel bad for Sal. The Swick is his baby for the last 20 years. For unforeseen reasons it has turned into somewhat of a nightmare. We should actually be grateful that he will not release a product before it's time.

I'd rather wait another year and have it be perfect than see them hit dealers next week and have flaws. I know the project has seen its difficulties, but I cannot thank Sal enough for seeing it through. I will be buying a lifetime supply of PE.

I also am good with waiting until Sal&co are satisfied with the results. I'm eager to have them in hand (PE and SE Swick 5) but I'll take done right over done fast every time. Looks like doing it right is getting close to fruition so... hopefully soon!

Sorry for the delay. We're having issues working with the sheaths. My requirement to be able to "pop" off the sheath one handed and still meet the other requirements has it's challenges. Sometimes I'm a fussy SOB.

Hi Sal,

We really appreciate the status report.

If there were issues with the Swick sheaths then why was a batch of the Swick 5 SpyderEdge released to dealers in early August 2022?

While waiting on the Swicks, I did get a Subway Bowie and the knife is great. However, the sheath is semi-smooth on the draw and to holster it I have to tap hard on the back of the knife handle to seat it.

Thank You.

thank you Sal. I really appreciate you seeing this project through, and communicating to us so frequently about the status of the Swicks. I hope this model is a success for Spyderco!

Well, hopefully it won't be long until the large PE, haha. This is a good sign.

I’m waiting on the Swick5 PE as well.

I fixed the retention of the sheath on my Subway Bowie by using a hairdryer and several draws and holsterings. Much smoother now on the draw (still with good retention) and no issues holstering. I did it in steps to just where I like it.

Me likes :)
Really hope Lamnia has an order in for these. It’s not listed as incoming, like for instance the Subway Bowie. Makes me a bit worried. Not too worried though, my money usually finds a way to escape my wallet eventually.

^ The serrated edge Swick 6 is now OOS at KSF. I was very tempted to get one when I got their email, but I don't even use my Swick 5 that often so I resisted the urge to make an impulse buy.

Hoping this will be a commercially successful model so I can still get one in the coming years.
