Swick 5 ETA?

#1

Post by vivi »

Sal, how's the Swick 5 coming along? I know a while back you said it looked like we'd see a 2019 release. Still a possibility or is it looking like 2020 at this point?

Don't me to badger you, but I'm really excited to see this come back. The Swick is such a unique design, and is my favorite FB for urban carry.

The most recent Reveal Catalog, Reveal Volume 3, was the last one of this year and I'd imagine all new models other than exclusives will need to be announced via the Reveal. Based on that alone, I would guess it won't arrive before 2020.

Maybe we'll see it in the Reveal Volume 4 Catalog?

For some weird reason, I suddenly have need for this knife. I have never EDCed fixed blade, but this little spydie could be very useful for around house carry, just to cut things that need to be cut.

I'm also interested and am patiently waiting for it's release. It may be my first Spyderco fixed blade.

If you've never tried to EDC a fixed blade the Swick is a good place to start. Incredibly compact, very discreet on a belt, can clip it to a pocket, or carry it in your pocket, etc.

Wonder which one I'll be carrying more when it comes out, the Swick or my new Street Beat.....

This is how I've been carrying this small fixed blade for the past week. My hoodie can cover the handle if needed. The Swick should be similar, if not a tad smaller.

This is my dilemma aswell. The Street Beat is SO good, it will probably depend on the blade shape of the new Swick. Although, LC200N is compelling.

(LC200N Street Beat? :D)

I carry my small fixed blades in a much deeper sheath. I usually only have about an inch of handle protruding from my pocket.

I've been considering trying it deeper in-pocket. My problem is that re-sheathing with one hand will be much more difficult with this sheath when it's down further in the pocket. What kind of sheath are you using?

Bumping this thread.

I've been getting more into small fixed blades for daily carry lately and Vivi suggested in another thread I check out the Swick. I'm really liking my Street Beat so I'm excited to check out another Perrin-inspired design.

Any updates available? :D
