lc200n production
lc200n production
is it unrealistic to hope that more knives get a lc200n salt treatment? is it possible that we’ll see more production models with this steel? will we ever see sprints or exclusives with lc200n?
i know it’s not the most super steel for edge holding, but it’s well balanced and super handy to have in the middle of the pacific. its getting old watching all the cool sprints and exclusives in tool steels that i don’t want to try to maintain here. i’m glad bladehq is making people happy with their apparent winning combination, but some more corrosion resistant models would be nice.

Re: lc200n production
There have been a few posts about lc200n and galvanic corrosion. I dont have any insider information, but I have a feeling Spyderco is trying to figure this out before full production. Testing takes time and it might be as simple as the liners, lock bar, or screws.

Re: lc200n production
I'd like this. I care a lot more about corrosion resistance than edge holding.
Re: lc200n production
I feel like I saw a post a while back where someone mentioned talking to a dealer, and was told lc200n wasn't currently an option for exclusives. Does anyone else remember this, or did I imagine it?

I hope it happens, I'm 100% on board with LC200N.
It is a joy to use and has withstood extreme (ab)use and neglect. I couldn't ask for more.

Re: lc200n production
The way I see it is if the Caribbean can be done in G10/LC then so can other models. Golden can get LC or we wouldn't have the Native Salt. Seems to me the only logical next step is a Military Salt.

I’d really like a Para 3 LW salt, and lc200n seems the perfect match.
That would be cool too.

Re: lc200n production
I think someone did say this, not sure who. The counter-example is the Never Summer Native, but that is the only LC exclusive that I know of.
I am a big fan of the stuff and love my Native Salt and SpydieChef. I am one of the many who have asked for more LC blades.

That was it! Thanks - glad I didn't make it up. But I do hope that changes. The Kapara, the manix, and many others would be awesome in lc200n.Dazen wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2019 10:53 amHere is the thread:

Re: lc200n production
I would love a Manix 2 LW, Chap LW, Para 3 LW, Ladybug FRN, and a Dragonfly 2 FRN in LC200N! I wouldn’t be opposed to any other models as well but those are on the top of my wish list.
Re: lc200n production
i remember that thread. i mentioned sprints and exclusives mainly because i don't understand the steel choices that seem so prevalent. the tool steels seem pretty polarizing to me and limited in their attraction (although everyone around here seems to be falling all over themselves for more of it). i just think it would be nice to see a more stainless option for sprints and exclusives. every knife doesn't need to be m4 (i know it's not, but that's the most recent frustration for me personally). i'd love a dodo, but i'm not buying one in m4.
as far as lc200n goes, i'd mostly like to see spyderco expand it to more models. i know that it's not as easy as changing the blade steel and calling it a salt knife. i know there's a lot that goes into all of that. i just wish i knew if they were working toward that end. and i know they don't owe any of us that answer, but it would be nice to know if i should give up hope or not.

also, this. i hope we don't only see it come in linerless lw frcp models. if they did a manix backlock in g10 (even though it didn't have liners and i never bought that knife because it was too thick), i would buy one immediately. if they did a lil native g10 with a comp lock in lc200n, it would be amazing.

Re: lc200n production
I think Sal has mentioned working on an LC200N Swick I will def get at least one of those. For me I'd rather have more 20CV then LC200N though but I've never really had a stainless steel rust enough to need rust proof. Although I do have a Pacific salt and Waterway I'd choose more edge retention over full stainproof
S30V, VG10, M4, XHP, BD1, Cruwear, Elmax, Maxamet, 204P, H1, K390, A11, Rex45, LC200N, M390, 20CV, BD1N, S45VN waiting to afford MagnaCut

I like the look of the dodo blade, but not the rest of the knife. I’d love it if the Swick 5 comes in M4!!
