Shaman clip brittle?

So I caught my Shaman's pocket clip on something today at work and it got bent outward. I just now tried to bend it back to its original position, and it broke at the screwholes before I had fixed the bend. I have never had any spyderco clip do this. I have always bent them and fixed them with ease. It seems like the Shaman clip is higher hardness than most clips and has far less malleable/ductile. I had no idea they were this fragile. It wasn't even bent that badly.

I've never wanted or needed an aftermarket clip, but now I do. There's no way I want another clip this brittle. What options do I have? The Shaman has a unique clip so I know there can't be many. I hope the issue I have with the Shaman's clip is a unique thing. Spyderco's best clip IMO was the pre-CQI military. Post CQI, the clip got thinner and poked out more to be more easily snagged on things. To me even byrds have better clips than this.

The bonus is, the Shaman's ergos go through the roof with no clip.

Checkout MXG, if I were to buy a Shaman I would automatically replace the clip with a MXG deep carry clip.

They must have made that clip out of s110v.

Seriously! Quite corrosion resistant as well. Haha!

Odd. Strangely enough, while my M4 Shaman has seen a good bit of pocket time since I got it, it is one of the few pocket knives I've had that I haven't caught the clip on something and bent it.

Go figure, and it's such a unique clip instead of the standard clips so it's not easy to just swap with another. A couple of you already experiencing problems worries me with my 4V I just got last month.

Yeah. Quite a few times, it ALMOST got snagged and the clip "won the battle" so to speak. This was the very first time the clip ever got bent outward. Just be careful fixing yours if it ever happens. If you're bending it and it feels like it's about to snap, it is.

There isn’t a lot of steel there around those screw holes. If you clamp the mounting section in a vise and bend clip section I suspect it would have bent fine.

Order a new clip from SFO. I bet it was a fluke.

I've done a lot of clip swaps on shamans and have bent them for better retention on slicker material - there might have been a defect at the screwholes already. I hope SFO will hook you up!

Sounds like a good opportunity to test out the MXG deep carry clip for us. I tried one on a delica and the retention was horrible, like it would fall out of my pocket sitting down on the couch bad. Maybe it's better on the Shaman.
