2019 seconds sale

#1

Post by araneae »

Just wondering what the word is about a sale this year. At Blade show I was told it was happening, but haven't heard anything here yet. I'm planning to be in Colorado regardless. :)

Haven’t heard anything official yet either, but I have already made my travel arraingements! ;) I booked things early to take advantage of some deals.

I’m really praying it happens on November 23rd this year and they continue the trend of having the sale the weekend before Thanksgiving.

I asked this question last year, with no response. That is fine. Cest la vie...

However, if anyone wants to assist me in obtaining any Seconds Compression Lock folder, regardless of type ( although a Yojimbo 2 would be best) that would be great... it will be worth your while... :)
PM me if anyone wants to hear me out?

Otherwise, enjoy the experience when it happens boys and girls... :)

They traditionally run it the weekend before Thanksgiving for the past 3+ decades. I don't see any changes.

I missed it last year and, of course, that was the year Ed Schempp attended. Since he's going this year, I'm considering attending again.

Wish I could go but won’t be able to.. I’d love to pick up a few models, especially when I see all the prices that they go for :/

Thanks for the reply Sal! Will be my second time going. I did not know that it had been on the same week for so long as I've only been in your universe for half a decade! :)

I have the same question if anyone would be willing to pick me up a single knife. Mostly want a millie. PM if you're willing - please.

P.s any knife would be nice though.

As appealing as it sounds, the trip to Golden would be more expensive than just paying full-price for a top-tier Spyderco.

Of course if the "seconds" were made available online, that would be a whole 'nother thing.

I beg to differ, I've made the trip to Golden worth it for the past three years. Even with travel expenses it ends up being cheaper than if I were to buy every knife new. Personally, it's worth the trip out there! :D

There are so many knives available that it would be a nightmare trying to list them all, each with unique descriptions, online. It's almost necessary to handle and examine the knife in person so you know what you're getting.

For the first time in many years, this isn't going to be during 4th rifle Elk season here in CO, and I might actually be able to go!

I haven't been active lately, but I'm still a big Spyderco fan and wish I could make it to the sale this year (I'll still be in the Northeast at college during the sale).

I noticed this in the email sent today:
No pre-purchase trading – Why would someone “hoard” a product? So they can leverage their temporary possession of it to “horse trade” with other hoarders before they buy. That’s not fair to anyone. If you’d like to trade with other shoppers, do it after you’ve paid for all your purchases.
This is news to me, as pre-purchase trading was a major activity at the seconds sales I went to. It was a lot of fun, and usually both parties ended happier than before. It also contributed (positively, IMHO) to the overall excitement and atmosphere of the first hour of the sale.

Thoughts?
