When someone asked on their Instagram post 7 days ago, they replied, "hopefully in less they [sic] two weeks."

So possibly as soon as the end of this week?

What is VG10 Damascus? Is that cladded VG10? Folded VG10? The whole use of the term 'Damascus' is kind of confusing to me because of the many ways that it seems to be used. Thanks!

Oh, great! That’s not a long wait. I was surprised when they required the total price to be paid, but didn’t offer any expected shipping day quote.

Too bad the scales are blue. If they were green I would be all in.

A lot of Damascus knives that come from Japan (or from the Japan heritage of knife making) seem to have Damascus cladding with some other steel as the core. MCUSTA, Murray Carter, and a bunch of chef knifes from Chef Knives To Go come to mind. So my guess would be Damascus cladding.

The pattern looks to be exactly the same as the DPS-15 Damascus Spyderco has used before, which is described by them as:
Spyderco’s Damascus is a laminated fifteen-layer steel with a Suminagashi pattern. The Damascus steel is composed of layers of erosive and non-erosive material over a VG-10 core center. The erosive layers are hard martensite stainless steel and the non-erosive layers are anti-corrosion nonferrous metal. These layers block carbon particles in the core from spreading to the outer layers. After layering the blade is forged to intentionally distort the layer-lines making a complicated, artistically beautiful pattern called Suminagashi. Suminagashi is the traditional Japanese art form of creating ripples of Chinese ink on the surface of water. This steel mimics the art form with interesting results on a knife blade. Once the layers are distorted, the blade is bathed in acid etching the pattern to vivid relief.

Known as D.P.S. 15, the blade material is produced by Takefu Special Steel Company, Ltd. in Japan. It consists of a VG-10 stainless steel core sandwiched between two outer layers of Damascus steel. Each of the Damascus layers is composed of 15 layers of forge-welded steel, beautifully patterned and etched to reveal the detail of the structure.
In short, a VG-10 core with Damascus outer layers.

It is not the traditional folded and forged laminated Damascus,, this Spyderco Delica consists of layers of steel laminates bonded to a core of VG-10 in a cold rolling mill process. Think plywood construction, it is rather common in Japan for lower priced kitchen knives.
I have one of the earlier issued Delica models with light green FRN scales.

I can't say I'm all that impressed with the DPS 15 blades I have seen... The entire reason for having a pattern welded cladding is the aesthetics and these are just plain ugly to me :( I have one of the foliage green FRN Delicas with this blade material, it looks better than most of the pics I've seen on the web, but it still just barely makes it to "meh".

KnifeJoy burned me on a pre-order. I did not get the knife and had to send many emails and make several phone calls to get my money back. Be careful.

I have never ordered from them before. Noticed they charged my card immediately.

Great looking knives, I love the look of this damascus pattern.

Can anyone who owns the previous damascus delicas speak to the blade’s performance? Does it perform and act just like standard vg-10?

I haven’t seen any shipping notifications, or any info on the website. Last I checked, it still said “pre-order now”.
