I've heard about Elmax, but have never seen it really talked about or people that use it around here. What is it comparable to?

I have owned 3 knives in Elmax from 3 different sources.

Never ever purchase Elmax with a Bead Blast it looks nice but will get rust dots like crazy.

Elmax in a satin finish was prone to rust as well but not nearly as bad as Bead blast. Again just rust dots no pits.

My favorite was the Lionspy full sized by Spyderco. It was polished and never rusted as the other two did so I would say finish very much counts with this steel.

It is pretty easy to sharpen it does indeed feel a bit like M390 but is easier to sharpen.

If it is a model I am interested in and Elmax I will buy one. Elmax is a nice strong steel and holds a good working edge a long long time.

My K1 BUsh Knife in Elmax was used in the Kitchen allot and I pushed it through frozen meat and just about anything you could imagine bones etc, It did not deform or chip once.

If it is a Foliage Green G10 Elmax PM2, then they will get my dinero ... unless it sells out in 75 seconds, then I will miss out as I am not that quick and available.

Likely, a Foilage Green G10 Elmax Para 3, which I will pass on...

I’ve heard from a reliable source this is indeed a “ranger green” G10 PM2 in K390, my CC one will be shipping the end of this week but I’m sure we’ll hear more details soon (my vendor did not know what steel or color it is, but it is absolutely a PM2).

well that counts me out. PM2 are too big to me. **** was so hoping for another para 3, and k390 would have been awesome especially in that color. still need a para 3 in cruwear , bd1n , ...

man i really wanted to try k390 and that ranger green color. oh well guess i have to keep waiting.

Finally read the entire thread probably is K390 in which case whew dodged another wallet buster.

Owned a Police4 in K390 it was a rust bomb never saw a steel rust so fast.

Might be the heavy chlorine and acidic nature of our water but no other steels react that badly.

Oh well here is hoping someone else does some Elmax.

Too similar to my only other PM2 with OD Green scales. I THINK I'm happy I'll pass...though will likely end up regretting it!
