pacific salt tattoo

#1

Post by ladybug93 »

i got flipped pretty hard about an hour ago playing soccer and landed right on my pacific salt that was iwb on my hip. i just got home to further inspect the damage and i had to laugh as i saw an imprint of my knife. you read that right... an hour ago i landed on my knife and i can still see the outline of the knife, the spydie hole, and volcano grip imprinted on my leg.

i’m not sure how long it will stay, but i thought i’d share the laugh with you all as well as the cautionary tale. i’ll still carry the pacific salt there and just try to not land on it ever again.

oh, and don’t ask for pictures. nobody wants that.

Imagine what a native does to your hip when you put a motorcycle down...

The native did survive.

i’m not gonna lie, sometimes i carry my native salt there instead and was very glad i wasn’t today. the rounded edges aren’t a huge deal in my hand, but they make a big difference iwb, especially with all of my body weight landing on it.

Ah, hahaha! :)

At least your OK bug. My brother played professional soccer here for many years and suffered his fair share of injuries. He broke and dislocated an elbow thirty odd years ago in an on field collision and it still gives him grief from time to time.

i’m not really old, but i’m getting old enough now that things get hurt easier and stay hurt longer. i was quite amazed to be laying face down on the field after such an impact and flip without having heard or felt a snap, crackle, or pop. definitely feeling fortunate to only have a temporary spyderco branding. :)

Seems weird to carry it working out too. Good luck if it opens up somehow.

I thought this was going to be the start of a "show your spyderco tattoo" thread. Someone has one I'm sure.

i’ve never had any issues with it at all. i shouldn’t have had it on me playing a contact sport, but there’s never been an issue doing any other type of workout. its thin and lightweight, it’s not in the way and you barely notice it’s there. backlocks don't tend to open on their own and it’s pressed up against me inside my waistband, so it’s held closed just fine.

A good reason to have a Spyderco backlock.

i knew one of you backlock fanatics would bite on that. i want to try a caribbean in my waistband just to see if it’s really a problem. i’ve never had an issue with a comp lock opening on me. like i said, the clothing holds it in place too.

Maybe a trip to a tattoo artist to have it drawn on and the inked before it disappears... :D :D

I usually have a PM2 IWB when mountain biking. As I eat dirt now and then, it has never been a problem.

Once I went down pretty hard, landing on my hip where the PM2 was clipped in. Got a tattoo of my own. I can't prove that these aren't the pocket clip holes digging into the skin, but what else could it be?

I usually have a knife or two on me as well when I am out mountain biking, generally a folder in my pocket and a fixed blade IWB in place of my pistol. That’s about as disarmed as I generally want to be, but I have taken off the fixed blade on a few occasions when I’m doing something particularly daring knowing that if I end up taking a spill I don’t want a knife popping out of the sheath and into my kidney. I’m very comfortable keeping my Manix in my pocket though cause I can’t think of any scenario that that’d end up opening and in my leg after any sort of crash, no tattoos for me yet either!
