An unexpected surprise...

#1

Post by DutchBlades »

So I had my birthday yesterday and we kept it nice and simple :)
I knew what my girlfriend was getting me beforehand because we picked it out together.
What I didn't know, is that she had quite the surprise in stock for me; two of them actually...

May I present to you the latest additions to the collection! :D

Image

First came the Rhino; an LBK I should've given a shot sooner.
Great little knife and one that's gonna see some extended carry for the upcoming weeks.
I'll probably add a small lanyard to get a 4-finger grip on it, but it's really promising already!

The second present held her favorite rendition of the PM2; My first PM2 with digi camo and the first one with a DLC coating.
Really liking the way this one looks and I know it'll function just as nicely, but this will probably stay pristine as a safe queen.

She mentioned wanting to get me a Spydie as a birthday present several times over the past years, but I didn't see this coming!
I couldn't ask for a better person to spend my life with, but I surely don't mind this icing on the cake :p
A tiger has claws.
A wolf has teeth.
An eagle has talons.
We, have Spyderco.

I'd ask if she's got any friends, but I think there'd be a distance problem hah.
I'm just being a goofball, ignore me :rolleyes:

Yeah, and sending a knife over won't be an issue with worldwide shipping :p

Rhino is a great EDC.
I've been carrying it as my EDC since I got it (not just as a backup blade) and definitely like it thus far!
(I do really need to make a small lanyard for a proper grip, but that might not be necessary for everyone)

She didn't know what to make of all the knives at first (seeing how it's not a standard hobby, I can't blame her);
but nowadays she knows the model name of at least 100 of my Spydies :p and understands the joy I get out of the hobby.
With her favorite models being the Mamba, Nirvana, and this PM2, I'd say she's definitely developed a good taste in knives as well!

Thanks Sal! It's hard to describe someone without sounding like a cliché collection album; but yes, she's great for sure! :)

Happy birthday,you found true love.
Thanks! :)
I've never been a believer in "the one soulmate" and all that jazz (mostly because of the statistical improbability);
but I certainly can agree with you wholeheartedly on true love.

I've been EDC'ing the Rhino since I got it!
Carried the PM2 for a day, but want to keep it in mint condition, so switched it out for the Rhino the next day.
It's proven to be a great EDC so far :D

I just need to get rid of some misplaced muscle memory that makes me try and close it like a liner lock from time to time... :p
(probably because of the one-sided choil part in the handle)
