Eric has been considering doing a remake of the Temperance 2. What steel would be preferred?

All the above choices would be great steels for a fixed blade. V-Toku 2 would probably be very good in that format too - tougher than Superblue, and a bit more wear resistant than 01, with similar fine edge properties to both those steels.

I will purchase one in whatever steel it is done with, even if it is redone in VG-10. Damascus would be groovy!!! Cru-Wear and 3V have been the bulk of my recent fixed blade purchases when a choice has been available. D2, if done well, would be my preferred baseline. S35VN and M4 also seem to be strong sellers when a choice is available. I would like to have more choices in XHP but that is just me and may not be the mass market... 204P would work too.

Maybe something classic and proven like O1, 52100, 1095, something that would take a nice patina over time. PD1/Cru-Wear would be cool too, but price would be higher.

For stainless, AEB-L is very tough and it will be my choice.
I agree with this. People want super steels or whatever is new and shiny. Then the price is higher and sales are slow. It's not that we wouldn't buy it. But the general knife buying public would probably get something cheaper with Chinese "D2" or something.

52100 would be a good choice. Spyderco has more than enough experience with that steel and uses it in other models. O1 and 1095 are also both proven user steels. It would be hard to go wrong with any of the three.

AEB-L would be interesting. It doesn't seem to be too expensive, the Urban seems popular with that steel, and the AEB-L edge toughness thread made me wonder how it would work in a fixed blade.

I'm too tired right now -- but the Temperance 2 is quite a bit bigger. Sort of a "big brother".

I’d like a less-brittle stainless steel like AEB-L, or LC200N. VG-10 is also good.

Personally I would love a fixed blade in M390 or S20V if you were going the "supersteel" option. But I'm still not giving up on the resurrection of the TEMP 1 model in LC200N or maybe another nitrogen based steel for ideal outdoor uses. What a model to debut a new steel in for sure
