What percentage of your Spyderco collection consists of fixed blades?

I have approx 40+ ? Spydie folders and 2x Aqua Salts serrated and 2x Jumpmasters serrated.
Also to keep in good with my better half, a Santoku x 1 and 2x Utility knives (6' and 4") she uses for food prep.
Just remembered, I have,I think, 2 other fixed blade survival knives.
Just remembered: I have a Spyderco Kumo stashed away.

Yeah, I don't know what it is. I like the Spyderco fixed blades but I stick with Esee. Just ordered the AGK model for skinning. I think for myself it's more about the geometry of fixed blades when it comes to buying them. I almost always have a fixed blade neck knife on. They are just so handy. And I prefer the micarta scales for grip. I dig my Izula and Izula ll they work well. I do appreciate the work horse designs Esee puts out.

Since I do not get the chance to go in the woods I have a hard time justifying a fixed blade even in the kitchen, Spyderco makes incredibly useful folders for that even.

My Hundred Pacer in CTS-XHP is the dedicated kitchen folder. As for the others I use them also just clean them the same as any other kitchen knife befor use and use alcohol to keep the tape gunk off the blades, a little food grade mineral oil and who needs a fixed blade?

Not a gourmet cook so no need for dedicated fixed blades and no room either.

OT, I know, but if you're considering the Izula: Maybe also take a look at the White River Backpacker (paracord wrap handle) or Backpacker Pro (G10 handle, removable).
In shape a lot like the Izula, just a tad larger, great sheath and S35VN instead of 1095 (the former imho better for a small (!) fixed blade). Roughly same price, if you calculate grip and handle... and also US made.

I get my fixed blade fix other places. I find the true value of Spyderco in their folding knives.

My collection fluctuates frequently, but at the moment I have about 30% fixed blades. That's if I don't count the blades hanging on the wall in my shop that I haven't finished building. 11 of my 24 fixed blades are Spydercos and 7 of those are Mules. Most of my fixed blades are custom knives I've made myself. For what it's worth, the 2 Spyderco fixed blades I find myself using the most are my Waterway and my Sprig.

Hey I would really like to help you with a method of carrying a fixed blade. There are dangelers, cross-draw sheaths, pancake sheaths. What knife/ knives are we talking about and are you a righty or a lefty? Also what is your normal daily attire?

I've got a Street Beat and a Ronin 2. My problem is I dress in a uniform for work and it must be concealed. I've played around with pocket sheaths but reholstering is still an issue with those. Besides concealment the bigger issue is that I often need to use them quick and with little attention to fine motor skills, so it's draw/cut/pocket and that seems more difficult with a fixed blade than with clipping a folder into the much larger hole of a pocket.

IWB beneath a shirt? They can be just as quick as folders that way unless you have to keep your shirt tucked in.

Yeah, gotta be tucked in. I've even been over this with our old buddy Dr. Snubnose who is a concealed carry ninja and he agreed that tucking in really limits the options. I think if I could get away with just open carry on my belt I would be MUCH more open to fixed blades.

When I bought my Backpacker (previous version, S30V, current version is in S35VN) at least the European price was almost exactly like the price of the Izula (both with sheats and handle scales).

But if a complete Izula 2 (incl. sheath and scales) can indeed be found for USD 60 in the US, I am pretty sure the backpacker can't compete with that price and I was wrong!

(Still, I'd gladly pay a lot more for the backpacker than for the Izula: In my use better steel for a small (!) fixed blade and just that VERY usefull tad longer blade).

I have a jumpmaster (rope cutter for ocean jobs) and a cold steel ak47 field knife in 3v (survival knife/chopper). I used to have some Russian knife in 4v but have it to my son in law. I typically don't need a fixed blade despite preferring them in use. The convenience of folders wins me over.

I am a deal shark and I have been collecting these over a pretty long period of time. They are a combination of factory seconds, used knives, trades, gifts, discontinued closeouts and 20% off eBay deals. I am definitely not as spendy of a person as this makes it look like when you spread it out over quite a few years.

I find Esee’s edges to be way too thick, especially the Izula. Not a fan. If I wanted another knife like that I would buy the Bradford Guardian 3.5. I love my Street Beat and BK14 so for now I’ll stick with them.

I will buy the White River Sendero Classic at some point. Haven’t actually handled one of their knives yet.
