L'il Native lockback love..

#1

Post by flasharry »

Got to admit.. this is one great little knife.. It's taken over daily pocket duty from my Case Swayback Damascus and my Victorinox Camper as the usual in pocket EDC.. I did take the clip off, and its a perfect bottom of the pocket EDC... Fits my hand like a glove, good grippy G10, and as I don't fidget or play with my knifes, the lockback was no issue.
Tried both the compression lock and the backlock at my local knife store, but as the lockback was the last one in stock, and the display knife, I got a really nice discount..
I might see about making a nice soft leather slip for it, just because. I have an old Dunhill pipe tobacco pouch that could easily supply some nice soft leather for it..

Thanks Spyderco for such a neat little knife..

Yeah, many of us on this forum are loving that knife in both forms, but I love the backlock version. It is a really good pocket knife.

I think the backlock just fits the Native platform better. The Lil Native is a stout knife and deserves a robust lock. I like the compression lock but there's just something about a backlock that seems more solid to me.

Don't want to go off topic too far concerning the Lil Native, but I am with you on that the backlock fits the Native platform better. And so I really hope that also the Shaman will come in a backlock-version too(just version, not generally!) some day.
Tbh, other than the lock, the Shaman is more of a "blown up Native" than the Chief. The Chief is more of a "stretched out Native"

(Of course I'd be fine if every member of the Native family generally came both in a backlock and comp.lock version, since those two seem to be the two most popular Spydie-locks).

Now back to the Lil Native... ;)

It’s simply a masterpiece. I hope Eric gives it the YouTube treatment he has recently given the Chief and Shaman. All sorts of insights and reveals in those...

I really like mine. I’ve got just one local store here and I was just browsing one day and he had them both. I liked both versions but backlock ended up in my pocket because it has the better clip.

I really prefer the backlock version, but wish it still had the wire clip like the comp lock version. If it had the standard golden choil jimping I would still own it.

For me, I've got the St Nick's comp lock...and really wish it were a back lock! This knife just feels too small to me to have a comp lock, and have to agree with abbazaba that some jimping would be really nice as well. Something as small as a Dfly has it, this should too.

We need some new options with this back lock version, like colors and steels.

This would be nice.

But no exclusive from some obscure place I can’t order from.

Let’s at least get the lockback Lil Native in all black for now. After getting my hands on the St. Nick’s Exclusive, I’m dying for the lockback but really want something other than the plain black version.
