Stop Lock

Does the Stop Lock have a bias to close like the back lock or is it detent dependent? It is not obvious from the drawing on the website. I do not remember any discussion on this.

Also, what advantage does this lock bring to the table?

I do remember Sal querying me about what I thought about a stop lock Military instead of the back lock I was asking for.

No, it does not have a detent.
Stop lock has an arm that is under spring pressure and blade tang has two notches. And the arm locks in one in those two notches, one in for locking the blade in open position and one is for closed position.

Advantage......well, hard to say, Stop lock in now only on one Spyder, the Parata. But from what I can tell, you have fully ambi knife, no detent based system, bias to close BUT, you dont have to have any backspacer with spring and in theory, you can fit quite a big blade in the handle, because you are not limited by the backspacer (like on backlock).

I thought the same thing at first! lol :D

I was actually thinking it would be cool to implement a Spyderhole as the release for the stop lock instead of a thumb stud somehow! It would certainly require a bit of creative engineering and design, but it could work! :D

Howdy all, the stop lock on the Parata DOES HAVE a closing bias due to the lock lever spring tension pushing on the blade tang.
The bias is always there unless you manually move the lock lever away from contact with the tang.
The blade swings freely when the lock lever is ‘opened’.

Hasn’t this configuration been rumored? I think the Millie is great as is, so I’m not looking to replace it, but the stop-lock configuration sure has me curious.

Owning a Parata and appreciating the ingenious design of the stop lock I would still prefer a back lock on the military.

To me the stop lock shows what is possible and is brilliant.

Back lock however is simply more practical than many genius designs IMHO.

I would prefer the backlock, as well, but I have no experience with the stop lock. It might turn out to be better. Time will tell.

I would like to see some more knives with Stop lock. I think its very sleek and sexi and I want to compare it to backlock.
Sadly, Parata is not really for me (but I still love your work Paul!) but I would buy Millie 2 Stop lock in a second.
