I ordered one. Love the looks of this one. I like Spyderco's DLC and it's hard to beat M390. I think this is the first Spyderco M390 with DLC? I'm guessing these will last a while. BBS doesn't sell out of their exclusives very quickly due to their pricing.

Also, I sold my blade swapped DLC 20cv and blue G10 frankenPM2 for about the price of this one (I wouldn't have done the swap if I knew this one was coming out so soon!). I'd rather have a stock version made by Spyderco than my blade swapped version.

This is definitely a nice looking knife in a great steel. I think they'll be around for a few weeks, maybe months, but they'll sell out. Personally, the only time I can see using a pm2 is as a larger hard-use barn/farm knife, which will get dropped and banged around, so I'm holding out for the st. Nick's 4v. If they do this combo in a para 3 - which I would EDC - then I'd buy one.

Well not bored of PM2. Would still love a combo blade one in something other than 52100.

M390 is okay but not at these prices and over priced shipping honestly, I would only buy to resell in the future but DLC Blade’s rarely bring the same price as Satin. I would not really like myself for doing that.

Who knows how it will do on the secondary market one day?

It sure is a pretty combo. How they think this should be sold at a higher price than the DLC 20CV which is nearly identical in ingredients that make up the steel that was recently released is just taking advantage of folks in my book.

M390, CTS-204P, 20CV are all nearly the same steel I own and have used all 3 out of the 3 I prefer 20CV followed by CTS-204P and M390 comes in last.

Criteria is purely subjective.

Passing on this knife and not buying from BBS in not so silent protest but voting with my wallet.

Both Spyderco Paramilitary 2 M390 and Spyderco Paramilitary 2 M390 DLC Black Black are still available at bentoboxshop. Anyone knows how many of each are still in stock?

I've never bought anything from BBS. Not on the bucket list either. Nice looking model, but part of me immaturely hopes the market punishes them for charging $15 shipping.

Shipping notice received. I'm a sucker for black & blue. Price is high, but if it was any lower, I would most likely have missed it (just like I've missed the last few from DLT, BHQ, etc.).

Not so sure about that. They have basically $45 of markup in there between $15 shipping when other dealers give free shipping, plus selling for $199.95 where DLT likely would have sold for $169.95 going off their Red M390 Satin PM2 that was $159.95, and the $7 difference between their $149.95 DLC 20CV PM2 and their $142.95 Satin 20CV PM2. They could have sold it for $189.95, or $179.95 and still probably wouldn't have sold through them yet.

To put things into perspective, with their $45 of markup on each knife of an 800 knife run, they will bring in $36,000 MORE than DLT would on a single exclusive.

See above, $45 markup over other dealers. The market is definitely punishing them as there are still over 500 in stock out I'm guessing 800. They will eventually sell out though, so I guess as long as Mr. Bento has deep enough pockets to be able to sit on $100K of inventory of a single knife, then he will get the last laugh.

Perspective is great and all, but BBS is not really under any obligation to compete with MAP'ers. It appears to be a smaller shop and privately owned. If BBS wants to sell low and constantly moved volume, good for BBS. If BBS has the financial security to sell a luxury product above MAP, why shouldn't BBS? I mean, just purchase from DLT/BHQ/KC/etc.

If BBS's method results in a closed business, then someone else can get access to the blue color scheme, and they can decide how they wish to sell them. None of this is mission critical.

Sure the price is high, but I haven't made a frivolous knife purchase in a couple of months, so it's fine.

I still haven't ordered one. I want one badly, just wrestling with myself over the price and shipping. But that black and blue!!

I likely won't order one but it's a really nice looking knife. Kudos to BBS for keeping these runs going. I don't particularly agree with their business model but at least they are helping keep some variety out there.

I have ordered several knives from BBS over the past few years.

Will pass on the ugly black coating version.

Comparing shipped prices (excluding sales tax) for very comparable ParaMilitary2 dealer exclusives:

  • BBS's PM2 M390 DLC Blue G-10: $214.98
  • DLT's PM2 20CV DLC Tan G-10: $149.50
BBS is $65.48 more than DLT!

M390 is an import compared to 20cv, but the Satin/Red G10 M390 PM2 was only $140 if I remember correctly.

Although M390 is equivalent to 20CV and 204P it seems to be more desirable and thus demand a premium in price.

The DLT PM2 M390 Red G-10 did not have a DLC coated blade and it sold for $149.95 shipped for the first batch in November 2017 and $159.25 shipped for the second batch in July 2019.

I think a reasonable comparison would be (shipped w/ CA tax):

DLT PM2 M390 Red - $171.60 (list $159.25)
BBS PM2 M390 Blue - $222.99 (list $189.95)

Diff of $51.39.

I don’t know if DLT charges tax to all states. But, CA requires it, so BBS shouldn’t be penalized for that since they are based here.
