Which one is the most important to you if you could only have one, the M390 Delica or the cruwear Delica?

My take is that I wish I had a little bit of heads up on both of these as they would not leave something listed in the Spyderco reveal as they are exclusive to a retailer or to a distributor. I like properties of both of these and of course I love the Delica. I’m not willing to pay the price of the knife to have the M390 shipped to me however . For that reason alone the cruwear is the right one but otherwise I might’ve chosen the M390 and if I can figure out a way to get my hands on one I still might. I like the stainlessness if the m390. I don’t have any direct experience with cruwear and for that reason I would like to have that.

I have the M390 and will be getting the Cruwear. I will probably carry the Cruwear more often, but I will keep both. I also just got the blacked out combo edge a few days ago and have the foliage combo edge as well. So the Cruwear will be Delica #4. They are great knives and I have been carrying mine often.

I'm more of a stainless guy. Spyderco does good with M390 from my experience too. I won't actually be getting either but if I was it would be M390.

I just want more Golden made 20CV but given these choices I'd choose M390

I already have the M390 Delica, so I'll be getting both if I'm lucky enough to actually score one in CruWear amid the inevitable feeding frenzy :eek:

If I had to pick just one, I might go with the M390, since I don't tend to beat on my Delicas as hard as some of the stouter Spydies in my collection.

If I were a Delica guy, I'd get both. I'd use the M390 and hold on to the cruwear in hopes it increases in value down the road.

Now, if they did a run of DLC cruwear, that'd be my first choice.

M390 for me. It's my favorite stainless, and maybe my absolute favorite, steel.

Cruwear runs 4th or 5th for me. I'd rather have 4v or K390 than Cruwear, if we're going non-stainless.

I chose CruWear, because both isn't a very fun answer. That being said, if Spyderco is figuring out how to hit 61-62 hrc consistently then m390 is a very compelling option. I still prefer the way CruWear sharpens and the edge it takes, but properly heat treated and hardened m390 is some good stuff, and if one production company is going to commit to nailing the heat treat, its Spyderco.

I'd have to choose CruWear, I don't buy from BBS.

Honestly, the Mantra is so perfect I don't have much desire for a Delica. The only one I want is Supergold, but I've yet to pull the trigger.

i agree wholeheartedly. more 20cv. and cruwear as a production instead of maxamet.

Both of these have a great steels and both of these have a great color. Something like these ought to be regular production.

Bought Cruwear to try it out, sold it to try some M390. Then I sold the M390 to buy a third knife in S90V.

I’ve been preferring cruwear and 52100 the last year so I would prefer the cw Delica. It would have been awesome if the cw Delica was coming out with the blue of that m390 but I will still try and get one.

I’m just really excited to try Cruwear. I’m afraid I might miss this opportunity, but if it ever comes around again I’d love to have a Cruwear Delica.

Since I don’t have anything in cruwear, I’ll go with that.

Well, I voted "I'll get both," for two reasons. 1) I am happy to see Japanese :spyder: s showing up with steels Seki haven't offered in the past, and subsequently see how Seki does with it, and 2) I have poor impulse control when it comes to :spyder: 's :o

If forced, I'd pick the Cruwear, because I love both steels, but between the two, 1) For me personally,I can get a screaming edge with the Cruwear, quicker and easier than the M390 family when sharpening, 2) I have way more M390/20CV/204P in my collection, and 3) I don't see Cruwear in nearly as many production knives, ( :spyder: and non- :spyder: ) so I try to snap it up whenever it's offered.

I bought the Cruwear and passed on the M390 so that is my answer.

Get both like I did.

Just the M390 for me... The HAP40's got me covered for carbon and I've probably bought too many (kitchen) knives recently anyway.
