Chief/Endura photo request

#1

Post by Tims »

Just comparing specs between these two and was surprised to see the chief is only 2mm more in closed length than the Endura while offering an extra 8mm in total blade length(3mm more edge)

Does anyone have comparison pics of the two?

Don't have a Chief (yet!! :D ), just Enduras, so no pic, sorry.
But what you describe was one of the first things I checked and noticed concerning the Chief.

Other than Police and Millie (both too much closed length for my liking) I think the Chief is not noticable larger / longer in pocket than the Endura, offers even a bit more edge despite having a 50:50 choil... looks perfect for me.

EDIT: I'd also really appreciate Chief/Endura comparison pics...
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

I initially overlooked it because I’m not a huge fan of g10 and for some reason thought it was bigger.

I’m glad I looked at the specs, I’ve been carrying strictly clipless/loose in pocket lately and a pocketable 4” blade with a backlock is very appealing.

Imagine they´d make a Chief LW... just like the FRN / Native LW comes additionally to the G10 version...

I agree, this knife done like the Native 5 in linerless frn would be amazing.

Here you go:

The Chief and Endura carry very similar in the pocket. If anything, the Chief carries a little better, because it doesn’t have the hump.

Thanks, that's really appreciated! :)

Chief looks perfect in size for my needs...

/ Looking at the pics: Do you carry the Chief clipless? Or in the left pocket?

I am left handed, so I carry it in the back of my my left front pocket. I usually carry two other knives, with clips set up right-handed. One in the front of my left front pocket, and one in the back of my right front pocket.

I see... should have guessed something like that by reading your signature... ;)

Thanks once more for the pics!

Hmm, that comparison pic.....maybe I need a ZDP Endura at some point in the future.........but there is still a Police 4 to consider.
In the pocket: Chaparral FRN, Native Chief, Police 4 K390, Pacific Salt SE, Manix 2 G10 REX45

Good idea... :D But I personally would not go ZDP or V Toku 2 (like in the pic) but HAP 40...

I do hope so. I know it’s thrown around on the forums alot but a Salt version of this, linerless frn & lc200n, would be a very useful knife.

Is Golden currently the only factory capable of grinding steels like Maxamet? A HAP72 Endura would be awesome.
