IMO..Bento's pricing on this one isn't out of line..DLT's pricing on their exclusive is just really, really good.
Re: Bento Box M390 PM2 Re-Release on July 19th
I already have the cf/m390 millie. Wouldn't mind a blue millie.
Re: Bento Box M390 PM2 Re-Release on July 19th
I've been eyeing these two PM2 releases. I'd like to have a larger folder, and the lock on the Manix 2 is hard for me to reach with smaller hands. Seems like the PM2 is a good candidate, and I'd like a unique color/steel combo, but I'm not sure I'll like the m390. Ive stayed away from s90v and s110v because I'm worried I'll chip them, and because I don't like to cry on my sharpmaker. I recently got a delica in zdp-189 to see how I'd handle a really hard steel, and so far I've been really careful to do regular touchups, so I've been ok. But I'm definitely not a pro in the sharpener dept. Think m390 will be too big/frustrating of a job for me to tackle? How will it compare to zdp-189? Will it chip easily? There's so much love for it out there, but not sure if it's a good choice for me...

M390 is not a difficult steel to sharpen at all (in fact, it's a great stainless steel.) I have an example from a previous run of this version, and I like it a lot. I don't own a Sharpmaker, but I reckon you would have no trouble with it.JuPaul wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2019 8:39 amI've been eyeing these two PM2 releases. I have little doubt that if you emailed BBS they would make a special bundle for you, but don't take my word for it, try it! :)

That’s a good point! I didn’t think of that. Makes total sense.attila wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2019 5:00 amIf I understand it correctly, the BBS msrp is that low because the contract with Spyderco likely wasn't updated on subsequent orders of the old PM2 exclusive configuration. How long ago was the BBS Smurf blue first available? I think the current msrp is probably from back then.wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2019 10:38 pmETA: DLT msrp $245 35% discount, BBS msrp $217 12.5% discount. Stock PM2 $216 msrp.
They still have the preCQI blue s90v Millie in stock. That would make an amazing swap. CF/s90v and blue m390 Military models. Holy cow!VashHash wrote: I already have the cf/m390 millie. Wouldn't mind a blue millie.

Ah I see, thank you for clarifying that.Skywalker wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2019 5:27 pmDealer (or distributor) exclusives, not sprints. Dealer/distributor usually has option to order another run after the first, as well as exclusive right to order that particular color/steel combination for that model.Doeswhateveraspidercan wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2019 5:20 pmI guess I am missing something. These are supposed to be sprint runs right?
I thought that meant Sold Once then done.
Looks like this is no longer the case.
If this is the case then that is fine by me never liked the idea of sprints anyway.
As for the price difference not discussing shipping as we all know how BBS is and have beat that to death and back to life again, but people will pay a premium for that Smurf Blue color. It is just well dare I say... Smurfy! :)
This is the third or fourth run of the blue/M390 PM2, for example. I think there's been about that many of the brown/S35VN PM2 as well, though that one's a distributor exclusive.
Re: Bento Box M390 PM2 Re-Release on July 19th
I bought the 20CV Tan DLC exclusive so I'm passing on this and the red/m390.

Hard pass. If I reallly wanted blue there’s always dye
Re: Bento Box M390 PM2 Re-Release on July 19th
I tried that once and they wouldn't do it so I obviously have more doubt than you do; but I would let them tell you no.JonLeBlanc wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2019 8:47 amI have little doubt that if you emailed BBS they would make a special bundle for you, but don't take my word for it, try it! :)

Huh, that's a shame bc they've done it for me and others in the past. Sorry bout that, maybe they changed their policy.cycleguy wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2019 3:51 pmI tried that once and they wouldn't do it so I obviously have more doubt than you do; but I would let them tell you no.JonLeBlanc wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2019 8:47 amI have little doubt that if you emailed BBS they would make a special bundle for you, but don't take my word for it, try it! :)

Couldn't they have at least done this in DLC? Why a 4th Satin run? DLC with that Smurf Blue would look great and probably would sell even faster than another Satin run. And it would be unique enough to make the price a little more palatable.

He's just saying there is demand ....
Funny that the blue BB M390 gets released two days after the red one at DLT.

I have never bought from Bento Box before, do they limit quantities? How is their CS?

Re: Bento Box M390 PM2 Re-Release on July 19th
I am genuinely curious how much demand there will be for a 4th run of satin PM2s, two days after the Red M390 PM2s, at their greedily inflated price. The first run of their M390 Para 3 was available for months at a time when the Para 3 was the hottest knife on the planet.
I still think a DLC run of these would have been a much quicker sell out, but we shall see. I have been wrong before...once

There is plenty of demand for this knife so I’m sure BBS will run out of them eventually. Selling knives out in minutes is nice, but if they don’t that doesn’t mean an exclusive was a failure. It’s weird to me that some people seem to think that.
There aren’t a lot of blue knives in Spyderco’s lineup and even less with M390 steel. I’m glad they are doing another run and I hope everyone who wanted one but missed out previously gets their hands on one (or more). In my opinion this is the best version of the PM2 Spyderco has ever released. But again, that’s just my opinion.

Agreed, although I think the St. Nicks Knives Delica exclusive could be considered a failure. It did eventually sell out though.Liquid Cobra wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2019 10:49 amThere is plenty of demand for this knife so I’m sure BBS will run out of them eventually. A lot of BBS's exclusives have been "failures" in my mind. Their Domino, Lil Matriarch, and S90V Military are all still in stock years later.
