If it wasn't $48 USD/$62 CAD shipping to Canada I might consider it, but that's just too much.
Their international shipping costs are easily enough to get me to say no if I were out of the US. I would suggest watching secondary markets for someone willing to ship to Canada.

Yeah, looks about right. I would've been all over the M390 Delica if they bundled the two for a lower cost. I was scratching my head for a minute wondering why they didn't, but they must not be expecting to have any trouble getting rid of their Delica stock. I've go their Domino already, and it's near perfect. It's a dream to use, or even just open/close for fun(sooooo smooth). I was happy to have a choice over the CF/G10 laminate, and the color/steel is a win. People need to get on that one! I have no idea how it's still in stock.

Sometimes (depending in the website in question), one can try to add an excessive number to one's cart, and then the site will say, basically, "no you can't do that'" and then one may draw the inference as to the stock on hand... You catch my drift

not sure how many they started with, but there appears to be 260 in stock at the moment. There is somewhere between 1 and 2 hundred M390 Delicas left in stock as well.

197 in stock. Slow mover at that inflated price. No doubt it will sell out eventually, so I'm guessing they couldn't care less. If the run was 600 units, that $45 smurf tax would give them $27K more revenue than DLT would have brought in on 600 of their M390 exclusives at their low price plus free shipping. Not to mention DLT gave out $3,585 worth of reward points on 600 knives. And DLT presumably has MUCH MUCH higher fixed expenses for employees, retail space, a night and day better website and servers (despite the server issues), etc.

DLT also probably sells enough of their other stocked items to cover those costs, though. I don't mean to defend BBS, we are all frustrated to a degree with their policies. I don't know much about either store, but the two can't be at all comparable in terms of cost/sales.
That BBS website, though... It needs some major work that even a High School student with minor website knowledge could provide.

I think it's so weird that there's this one outlier with such a different approach to reselling sprint runs.

EDIT: But the existence and success of BBS's strategy suggests that the other retailers are doing something wrong. The others are selling them off fast, at prices that let the secondary market capture a lot of built-up demand. BBS has to wait longer for their inventory to clear, so they shoulder some uncertainty that they might not sell them all, but in return for that uncertainty, they're not giving up 20% of the true value of the knife to some guy who's going to flip it on eBay.

I suspect that your edit is right on. Something must work pretty well for them. They stay around in spite of bad PR on the manufacturers forum of the product that they sell and continue to put the money up front for their own line of exclusives.

Everyone keeps saying $15 is an exorbitant amount of money for shipping. I'm from Canada and $10-$20 USD is the norm for anything. The DLT M390 was $230 CAD with $16 USD shipping, now I'm just hoping they don't charge any duties on it.
I ordered the PM2 M390 Smurf yesterday and will simply eat the additional cost or hopefully pick it back up on other sales.
I can see how $15 for shipping seems like a good deal if you're international...
..."On a trial basis, we are making all of our products available to international buyers. The cost for shipping and handling is $47.95 USD to Canada and $68.95 USD to all of the other countries for up to two (2) knives via USPS Priority Mail Express International".
-From the BBS site under terms and conditions...

Order received and is as advertised...

I got mine today, and I have to say I haven’t seen a better looking bevel from Spyderco. Seems almost perfect!

Just got a good deal on a backup one of these. Think I may have to black it out with my 20CV blade and hardware!

Awesome! If you do, definitely share some photos. I’d be interested to see what it looks like with a legit swap. I have swapped scales before, but want to get some more practice with some used PM2’s before I go and do something sad. The last one I did went flawlessly, but my first two tries left some light scratching.

I love the blue on this one way more than the red on DLTs. I ordered the DLT, still waiting for it. But if I could, I'd take this one.

Swapped the blade with a DLC 20CV blade and hardware. I'm really liking it!
