Seriously, try it. After washing your hands, with your fingers partially dry, I can not do it. It seems like 100% dry hands are required to operate this knife.

I love the knife, and it’s a gentleman folder not a yard knife. So it’s all good to me.

Just an odd observation...

Works for me, wet or dry, thumb and forefinger. Maybe you have a stiffer detent?

Lol, really? Mine is glued shut with wet hands... I can not get enough traction with my pointer finger to open

I have. I sold it immediately afterwards and I actually loved the knife. I sweat too much for a knife that you can't open with wet hands. To me, a significant CQI would be to have a useable Spydie hole.

I just gave it a try...no problem over here. The tips of my fingers are like sandpaper though so I probably get better traction than average.

Mine was really tight when I first got it until I disassembled, cleaned, and oiled it. If you haven't already tried, I'd give that a shot.

Technique might matter too, i usually place whatever digit i'm opening with on top of the wheel, not along the side.

I find mine more difficult to open with wet hands. Not a big issue, but yes, I definitely notice a difference.

I thought it was me. I got some oil on the wheel and opening it became almost impossible until I cleaned it and my finger off with alcohol.

Bored tonight..just tried this out for s’s and g’s. It was definitely more difficult for me to open with a wet index finger, but still doable. I didn’t really notice any difference when opening with my thumb, which, I guess fortunately for me in this scenario, is how I normally open mine.

The Ikuchi certainly wouldn’t be my first choice of carry if I knew I’d be in a wet environment, but I suppose it’s good to know I’ll be able to open easily enough with a wet thumb if I ever need to..

As I am on vacation and forgot to pack my dedicated water knife (S110v LW Native), Ikuchi gets to ride IWB.

I am not able to flip the knife open under water. It will open about 75%, but not all the way. But it will open 75% every time. Once above water, no problem opening it with wet hands.

Update my previous response above. Still no problem opening with wet hands, but I do have to apply a bit more focus and effort (wet or dry) when compared to similar sized knives with flipper tab and ball bearing pivot systems (e.g. Brad Zinker Dogtooth; Viper Belone), or Axis lock washer systems (e.g. BM 940-1).

I just oiled mine, without disassembly. Just loosened the pivot, gently spread apart liners and added some oil. Closed her back up and flipped a few times with the flipper wheel covered in oil, (downside to not taking it apart to oil) No problem opening whatsoever unless I tighten the pivot too much but that’s not any sort of traction issue due to wet or oil surfaces. Just like my Smock, it’s very hard to get it to NOT flip.

They are purely for looks. Fit just like the stock ones; finish is good; smooth and easier on the pocket. No issues. I would recommend the craftsmanship of Cuscadi. I put a black pocket clip on it from the Chaparral.

^ those scales really compliment the Ikuchi.. very nice!
