I don’t have any Spydies! Which knife should I buy?
Hey everyone, I’ve got a budget of around $300 for a new EDC knife. I was out of the knife hobby for a few months as Life just didn’t require it anymore. So I sold all my knives on eBay.
I still own my Wicked Edge with diamond stones, and strops, angle finder etc. etc.
I loved S110V! I could sharpen it from dull to razor with my eyes closed.
I might would like to try something different? C20V? M390? Maxamet? M4? CPM 4V?
I have no knife at all! And I really need one with my new job position.

More info would help. Size and Use? Folder or FB? Flipper? Automatic?

Maybe a Gayle Bradley 2? Even though I don't own one, I've heard nothing but good things and you'll get to try M4.

Welcome back tps3443! I wondered where you had gone. Glad you can get back into the hobby.
If you don't require a stainless steel, why not try something different like K390, CPM REX 45, or some other good tool steel. I'd be interested to see what you could do with CPM 4V as well, although it's a bit more difficult to get ahold of.

Hard to say for sure but I’m hearing a lot of good things about a Stretch with a straight spine.

Without knowing what the job is, or your size considerations, if you have the sharpening gear to tackle S110V.....
May I humbly suggest the Police 4 K390
It cuts like nobody's business :D

DLT Knives has the last batch of red g10 Para 2 m390 releasing July 17th. You may as well jump back in with a splash.

I’ll second the GB2, especially if you have already done PM2 and Millie in S110v.
GB2 is classy, tough and versatile, and gives you a new steel to play with
Past: Dragonfly, Air, Rhino, Lil' Native, Techno 2, Caly Jr., Brouwer, Chap LW, Para3, N5, Watu, ‘Chef, Mantra 2, SSStretch, PM2, Smock, Shaman, Advocate, GB2, Kapara, Military, Bradley Bowie, Province
Present: P4 K390 FRN
Future: Para3 Cruwear (someday)
Regrets: Most of them

What will you be cutting? Does it have to be stainless? What blade size would you prefer?

M390 Delica from Bento Box. This is a great all around design. Secondary choice, red with black dlc m390 para.

One knife? Para 2 in M390/Maxamet gets my vote.
Re: I don’t have any Spydies! Which knife should I buy?
Given the limited info so far I'd look for one of the manix lw's in s90v for an all around great work knife that won't break the bank. You could buy an Endura for backup and still be well under $300.
Re: I don’t have any Spydies! Which knife should I buy?
I've said on many occasions that a great Spyderco model to get started with would be the GOLDEN, USA made NATIVE model. You can get that model in plain edge and full Spyderedge ( Spyderco's patented serrations). To me it's an ideal size of a Spyderco folder to get started with. The blade length is probably legal in most USA jurisdictions. And it's just a great all around, multi purpose folder to get your feet wet if you've never had a Spyderco knife previously.
Now on Spyderco fixed blades. You, yourself would have to determine that one. Although the STREETBEAT is a great one to start out with. Now if you need a serrated fixed blade the current JUMPMASTER model would be a great one. Keep us posted as to which Spyderco models you end up getting.

Re: I don’t have any Spydies! Which knife should I buy?
If sharpening is no issue, I'd second what some folks have suggested above and go with something special like K390, M4, 4V etc. This is not to knock any of the more commonly seen steels, I just don't think it could ever be a bad thing to take advantage of the opportunities Spyderco affords us with respect to "special" steels. You've got a great budget, go nuts bruh!
You. Ain't. Kiddin'. I like your edge bevel btw!
