Got my first Caly 3.5 in the mail yesterday, g10/VG-10 off the 'bay. I've carried the hap 40 sprint Caly 3 alot and I have to say, I really like the size of the 3.5 compared to the 3. I was already planning on buying any future 3/3.5's but now I'm really excited for a new 3.5 to try out!

I hope this goes well. I'll think about it, but a 3" Caly LW would excite me more.
If you can do without a lock, the UKPK is basically just a slip joint Calypso.
I have looked at those! It's on the list. Just picked up a Dragonfly, and the Chapparal and UKPK are next on my "little knife" list.
It hit me one day when I was looking at the one I owned, then I looked at a picture of a Calypso 3. If they aren't siblings, then they're very close cousins!

I agree that the UKPK is a high value/high performance option. Really looking forward to the LW Caly 3.5. My Super Blue is top 5 go to EDC but for Summer carry FRN will be nice and I'm looking forward to more steel options in the LW/Taichung platform.

The Caly 3.5 blade looks like another one that should work great in spyderedge... and since LW editions most times seem to come in steels that lend themselves to SE (VG10, BD1N... ) I hope they´ll do a serrated version of the Caly 3.5 LW...
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

A serrated 3.5 LW would be a force to be reconned with. It might rival the might Pac Salt.

It's still a ways off. We've not yet picked a maker.

Well at least it's still in the works. I thought the Caly is a Seki knife. Do you have multiple makers in Seki?

The maker that made the Caly line has been having some problems lately.

My old Calypso Jr. was made by Moki, if I’m not mistaken. That’s the only Calypso/Caly knife I’ve ever owned, but the others in the Caly line were probably made by Moki, too. The other Seki maker of Spyderco knives, G. Sakai, produces the majority of Spyderco’s Seki line. I’m sure Sal will correct me on this, but the knives stamped ‘Seki-City, Japan’ are made by G. Sakai, while the Moki knives are only stamped ‘Japan’.

I'd love to see the Caly 3.5 LW made in the Golden facility (so we could enjoy some nice U.S. steels with that design). Taichung would also be excellent.

This will definitely be one to look forward to! I agree with Wartstein though, I really hope some of these come in SE. I've been wanting an SE caly 3.5 for some time and a lightweight with screw construction would be phenomenal.

Well, my vote is Golden!

But Taichung would be good, too.

I would love to see the Caly made in Golden, but Taichung would be amazing too! Especially if it used the same grey FRN as the Chap lightweight and was similarly textured. The Taichung FRN is probably my favourite

The design is finished. The prototype has been made. We feel the market demand is large enough to create the model. I believe it will happen. All things in time.

This is great! Is it staying being made in Japan? Or did the makers get switched?
