Has it been determined what steel will be used in the 3.5 lightweight? Would love to see the LC.
No idea but you can bet your collection it won’t be LC right out the gate

I am very interested in this knife. I keep trying to replace my Caly 3.5, but I always come back to it. While trying to visualize what the lightweight would be, I see a Dragonfly 3.5 with a little bit of Pacific Salt thrown in. The DF and PS are also top drawer knives for my usage. Keep it simple and easy to clean.

I dropped a VG-10 blade into a carbon fiber handle a few years ago, and OMG it became my grail knife. I had misplaced it one day and thought it was gone forever. I never could get over it, so I purchase a used ZDP/CF version and another VG-10 bladed version and was back in business. An expensive ordeal. I ended up finding the misplaced one and all is well.

Definitely looking forward to this knife. Glad to hear it will be textured similar to the Chap. Also wouldn't mind to see the same texturing as the ukpk.
Would also love to see a g10 version return.

I am also excited to hear that is will have the same texture as the Chap LW and will be made in the same Taiwan factory from the sound of it. If they keep the deep carry wire clip, jimping, boye dent, and screw construction it will be a day one buy for me.

I held a Caly 3.5 FRN prototype at the April OKCA show
Do you recall if that one was pinned, or screw construction?

I cannot wait for the Caly 3.5 Lightweight. I'm hoping it has XHP, like the Chaparral.

And I know this is a dream, but I'd LOVE to see a Caly 3 Lightweight one day.

All the comparisons to the chap have made me kind of want an xtra light version with the same blade stock as the chap LW. i wouldn't want JUST that option, but that added version would be really cool. Maybe a drop point version too? I know I'm getting carried away but just love the caly 3.5 platform.

That would be great indeed!! And not only in the Caly 3.5, but for example in a 2mm Stretch or Endela..

I think if more people tried the Chaparral, many more would also realize how great 2mm stock blades work, and that this stock thickness really is strong enough for any normal or even somewhat harder knife task.
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

If it is going to be made in Taiwan, then the standard steel will likely not be VG-10. I would love for it to be CTS-XHP, but please Spyderco, whatever you do, don't use S30V! It just seems so wrong for this model  !
I don't get people who only carry one knife :thinking ;)

Keeping an eye on this one. Big fan of the Calypso line. Hope to see screw construction on this one!

I would really appreciate a Stretch style drop point!

oh man, a drop point version would be really great. I think the drop point ukpk are some of the best looking knives. Unfortunately I don't have one because Im too worried about not having a lock. Need to overcome that someday soon

As others said, it appears to you and I that if made in Taiwan it will not be VG10 but it will be another great stainless steel.

I hope it is that basic price range, too. That sounds good.

And I hope it will be 3.0 mm thick at least.

I'm hoping the Caly 3.5 LW will not be as butt heavy as the regular one. ^ balance^

So excited for this! BD1N would be fine for the base model but I'd love to see LC200N or K390 options as well. Any possibility of a Wharncliffe variant Sal? I'll be getting at least one no matter what as the Caly 3.5 is my favorite Spyderco model.
