Then what about nice FRN, and a lightweight version that would LOWER price even more down to earth?? ;)
Oh yeah, FRN and some tool steel or LC? Match made in heaven :spyder:
Since the FRN-/LW treatment was done for the little (but older...) brother Native 5, I have hopes for the Chief too... :)
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

Warstein: Time and sales will tell. I think Sal said that FRN molds are very expensive to made, so you have to have some demand to cover the costs. But yeah, it would be cool as heck.
In the pocket: Chaparral FRN, Native Chief, Police 4 K390, Pacific Salt SE, Manix 2 G10 REX45

That´s true. And the over 4" blade is a factor that probably limits sales anyway already, so the FRN molds might in fact not pay off... :(

On the other hand: There is the upcoming LW version of the Police, which is even longer than the Chief. Though as far as I understand the Police LW is meant to actually REPLACE the G10 model eventually (and besides is a Seki-, not Golden- model), so that might be a different story.
We´ll see... ;)

Funny thing on the blade length, I think that 3.5 inch on my PM2 was enough, but 4 ich blade on Chief is just a bit more versatile, and with choil you can still do fine work.

Lets hope for the best and one day we will get an Chief sprint run.

I have yet to enjoy the original.

But since we’re dreaming, 3V or 4V, CF or micarta.

I have neither of these steels and do have all of the others. As with these other steels, simple curiosity is guiding my choice, not an informed advocacy.

LC200N is most appealing. I would rather keep the G10 handle for the Salt variant.

The para 3 and pm2 sprints are still around and being discounted and sold in two knife packages two years after release. I wouldn't hold my breath on that one.

I am kinda surprised I haven't picked one up yet. Same with the Shaman. Golden models (my favorite) with attractive (not just looks) designs. Guess I am waiting for the right combo.

Of this list, REX and Cruwear would definitely get me in.

Much like the Shaman, the S30V version of the Chief is worth picking up. Love how this thing slices.

I voted cruwear but the rex45 batch went so fast I wouldn’t mind trying that one out either. Also not opposed to 52100.

So, how long do you think we'll have to wait for the first NC Sprint?

I would definitely jump on a CruWear Sprint without hesitation, but in light of the fact that we've been collectively begging for an N5 in CruWear for years and it's not here yet, I'm gonna say the chances are slim... at least in the near term.

If this one had been S35VN, I'd own it already, but as it stands, I'm holding out for a different steel.
