Kapton washers

Mods, please delete this post if it’s deemed not appropriate to the forum.

Hi guys, does anyone have some old Kapton washers laying around that they’re willing to part with? My old black Military from ‘96 needs some new washers as the old ones are a bit chewed up.
I believe Spyderco stopped using them a few years later.
The Kapton washers are the very thin amber coloured ones popular back then.

Failing that, does anyone know of a suitable replacement that would fit?

Thanks
Pete

I'd guess that the kapton washers are even thinner, but .005" phosphor bronze washers might be thin enough to work... The PB washers are available from several knife making stores.

This auction has kapton washers, but they're .005" just like the bronze:

And as a last resort rolls of .001" and .002" film can be had from multiple sources.

Yes, Pete, I have two sets of 4. They come from first gen. Chinooks where I replaced them with brass washers. They will fit the Military too (I know because one of the Chinooks now has Military brass washers :) ).

PM me your address, and I'll put a set in an envelope. Glad I didn't throw them away :)

Roland.

I read that Kapton is a very durable plastic used in a wide range of applications. Would some variation of it be good for handle scales?

I think I read somewhere the old Kapton washers are .0035.
There’s two per side in this one.

What about shims--trigger/hammer shims that are used on eg Smith & Wesson revolvers.
They come in 1 thou and 2 thou thickness. They are in brass or bronze?.I can't remember the dia's.

Got your adress, will be in the mail tomorrow, Pete, might take some time to get to Australia.

Replied the PM, but for some reason my PM is stuck in the Outbox, which is why I'm posting.
