DLC SE Dodo...A plea to BladeHeadquarters (BHQ)

First and foremost, thank you BHQ for bringing us so many amazing exclusives in the form of your Jade M4 family! Thank you as well for treating DLC lovers as equals in your series, as us DLC fans don't get nearly the love on exclusives as the satin blade fans! And finally, thank you for bringing back the elusive Dodo! What a surprise this was as someone who has been wanting to try this model forever! :D

My plea to you is for the inevitable DLC follow up Dodo to be in full spyderedge serrated form. Many people consider the SE version of the Dodo to be an equal to or even superior to the plain edge version. I will absolutely buy both, but the ultimate Dodo for me is a DLC SE version. Please consider this as I know you would be making a lot of folks here very happy!

Thanks and keep up the great work!

P.S. Also, please consider some translucent Jade FRCP Lightweights in M4 as you continue down this path. The Manix LW, Native LW, and Para 3 LW all could use a little DLC M4 love!! :D

Thanks again!

You're starting to remind me of myself from about 5 years ago. I wanted everything in DLC and I was pretty much the only one. By the time I got a DLC Yojimbo 2 I was over DLC and only bought one because I was guilty of begging for one for so many years that I felt like a hypocrite if I didn't. Now it seems like at least with BHQ and M4 there's a demand for it so I would expect that if they do it in M4 it'll get the DLC version too.

I hate coated blades.

That said, BHQ has done DLC on all, or at least most, of these Jade/M4 knives so you should be in luck. :)

DLC on reactive steels? I can see the value. Especially when it seems to at least help hold oil to protect the pivot from corrosion and rust. M4 could use it.

But putting it on stainless, does not compute. At least in my mind.

At any rate, I am really looking forward to finally getting a chance to try out a Dodo.

some prefer it for discretion and/or looks.

I'm with you, and have known why for some time now. It's not a big deal. They have every right to want what the heart wants.

Guess I view it similar to paying $140.00 for a prime cut of Wagyu steak and smothering it with A1 sauce.

Sure one could do it, but, it just seems so barbaric. Stainless deserves to shine, and doesn't benefit in any way performance wise from DLC.

Let's keep this thread on track rather than debate the merits of DLC. ;)

Here are the facts:

1. BHQ is has already shown that they have an upcoming Dodo in Jade G10 with Satin M4 in plain edge

2. BHQ has done a DLC version of almost all of their Jade M4 exclusives, and I don't see why the Dodo would be an exception

The point of this thread is that my personal preference for their DLC version of the M4 Dodo would be a full serrated edge rather than another plain edge.

A serrated M4 Dodo would be an absolute beast of a knife. I know there are other serrated edge loves out there. What say you??

Isn't this a CPM-M4 blade, though?

My body chemistry is pretty quick to patina steel. I don't mind the look of the patina, but the smell is less than desirable.

I'd buy a serrated Dodo in un-coated 52100 if that were the only choice, but for a blade this ugly and utility-oriented I'm OK with DLC.

My apologies for the brief derail.
