Return of the Kahr

#1

Post by Hobnob »

Being a fan of the Delica, I regret not having the Kahr model. Unfortunately it is no longer in production. Has there been any discussion of a return of the Kahr or something similar to the blade in the Delica platform?

Haven't heard of anything regarding a rerun but it's one of my favorite Delica models! I'd love to see it return!

I don’t know about the Kahr model returning but five minutes at a belt sander will make any delica a kahr delica :)

it would be cheaper too. the kahr delica was more expensive than the standard model.

You could just order a customized one from Knives Plus. They have one available on their website right now, and it costs a heck of a lot less than a Kahr Delica will cost you now.

Thanks for the info from KP. That is what I'm looking for. Wonder if there is enough interest in this style to justify a remake?

I thought about the sanding belt route but I'm a little concerned about over heating causing HT loss. I've got a belt sander.

It’s super easy to grind your own. The only differences would be scale color and the jimping. I also believe Mr. Janich still makes them from time to time. I would welcome the return I stopped carrying mine when they got to 200+ on eBay.

They seem a little obsolete to me. Wasn't the idea to make an almost-wharnie that was shorter for legal reasons? I would think a better idea (or perhaps a "Kahr 2.0") would be a Delica wharnie with a bobbed tip. Then you get your shorter blade with a real wharnie edge.

It was intended for use as a self defense blade, so I think it was done more for making it legal to carry in places with a 2.5" blade limit than anything else. Also, I personally love the little bit of belly the Kahr Arms Delica has. It reminds me of a "modified wharncliffe", similar to the PPT Perrins blade style.
