OT - A Spydernut and some frogs...

#1

Post by sam the man.. »

Aaaahh, if I had caught your attention... Here's the story.. Drove 989.4 kilometres to the nearest frogging site to savour the Giant Asian Frog over the weekend.. Packed my Endura, Millie, Viking Axe and Mora (thanks Vox!) for this trip, ate and field-dressed some really big frogs.. Its rather hard to get to these places cos most of the trail are off-road sectors.. Check out the photos and you'll see what I mean..

even more pix - My lunch, a solid bowl of steamed frogs with pepper dills, garlic and Nouc Mam, a kinda Vietnamese fish sause.. and the way out was a tough ride! Oh yeah, I think 'Fear Factor' is peanuts if the show producers see what we eat on a daily basis..

You couldanswer a question that has plagued survivalists since the dawn of time:

Does frog taste like chicken????????

Frogs.. been eating them since... Ah, well, I grew up with such staple diet.. Aaaanyway.. Frogs taste better than chicken.. Fine textured meat like fish and sweet tasting.. you can roast them, barbequeue them, make frog goulash, frog burgers, frog pate`, fry them, sauteed frogs, smoke 'em and the list goes on.. The Chinese people here believe that consuming frogs actually purifies the human body's system.. That much I can say about frogs and frogs..

Samo would you be upset if I linked this tomy Pinenuts forum????

Big game frog hunting is rare in NJ.

BTW, is there any place in Malaysia you can get Bone suckin sauce??? http://www.bonesuckin.com/

Oh!!! almost forgot. You should do a spot on "Iron Chef".

Hi Vox! Field tested all the Moras and found that the small ones are the most useful cutting tools in the field. Used them to slice onions, garlic, chilli peppers, dress frogs and skin some small-sized deers.
As for the Axe, I give it two-thumbs up for agility and balance.. Whisked it a couple of times on the 204 to give it hair-popping sharpness and worked it on the bones and joints on the game that we've collected.. Absolutely wonderful.. Only stains a bit, but that's taken care of by some liquid abrasives.. I'm happy to report that the Moras are easily field sharpened but they don't really maintain an edge as good as blades with premium steel..

Oh yeah ~ Big T! Sorry, missed out on your post.. Aaaaanyway, I don't think bonesuckin' sauce are sold here in Malaysia.. I pack a micro-bottle of tabasco sauce wherever I go in my trangia mess-tin which I have converted into a survival pack... Use this thread in tomy pinenut's forum? Ah, why not? Take it away dude!

Since you used peppers and tabasco, maybe you could submit an article to chilepepper magazine!!!!

Good to see some pictures of frog hunters from across the globe. Us souther US boys have been hunting frogs since we were kids. Don't get to anymore but sure like seeing your pictures Samo. By the way, what in the world is Samo's job, if I may ask? You have to be one of the luckiest guys around. Sure looks like you enjoy life with that famous Samo smile.

John

By the way, frog doesn't taste like chicken. Like Samo said, it is better cause you caught it yourself.

Sometimes you gotta wonder if this guy (samo) ever works. He's usually out having fun and making us all green with envy.

Another nice thread, samo. Thanks for sharing the adventure. Btw, did you get a waterproof housing for that G-3?
