Baby Matriarch

IF they do this "Dodofly" I will buy one ASAP as long as it's available in Spyderedge. The original 2003 Dodo was available in SE for about two years and it's high time we got that blade back in SE.

Would rather have a G-10 handle but if FRN will bring it to the main line up I can live with it in FRN. But most definitely be offered in PE & SE both.

I've never had a blade this shape. Can someone explain the purpose to me? It reminds me of my old sewing seam ripper. Also, can it be sharpened easily on a sharpmaker?

Somehow, it just works. I'm not sure how.

I think you got it exactly right. You can do very precise cutting with this shape, just like a seam ripper. Or lead with the pointy tip to start your cut. Good for things with a skin like and apple or tomato.
Yes, it’s can be sharpened with a sharpmaker but if it get really dull, you got a task on your hands.
The lil matriarch is similar but more stretched out. Think I prefer that one.

The great thing about the reverse S is that the tip doesn't get in the way if you need to slice with the belly of the blade. You get good cutting power all the way to the heel.

I wouldn't use it for skinning a deer, but it can do anything a small drop-point can do with much more efficiency. You could get a similar but less extreme effect with a serrated sheepsfoot.

Or a person??? Gotta say, this one, and the Lil Matriarch, look like scary self-defense knives to me. Maybe a df version wouldn't look so intimidating, but I'd be nervous to whip out anything bigger around non-knife folks.

With how popular the Dragonfly models are right now, plus the renewed hype around the BHQ Jade M4 Dodo, I think that SE and PE Dodoflies could really be a great addition to the Dragonfly family right now!

They would really rival the Wharncliffe in usefulness/utility. The little hook at the end is immensely useful in many situations and the overall blade shape still allows you to do virtually anything that a Wharncliffe or Drop Point can do.

Let's make the Dodofly a reality!!

Ok, I agree, the dodo looks much more utilitarian and less murdery. ;-) A df dodo might even border on cute.

I urge you you try some of the current Dragonfly models but I appreciate your enthusiasm for my creation! :D I really hope they make this. I think it would do very well, especially in H1 SE Salt form and H1 PE Salt.

I urge you you try some of the current Dragonfly models but I appreciate your enthusiasm for my creation! :D I really hope they make this. I think it would do very well, especially in H1 SE Salt form and H1 PE Salt.

I have held them, not a fan of the tiny blade and big choil. However, the Dodo blade works well as a small blade.

I will choose my Baby Horn over any Dragonfly, but I would still buy a Dodofly.

The belly section is very efficient for a forward cut. It's like a bidirectional version of the hawkbill edge, a crescent shape, at the forward part of the blade.

You also almost get a second "hook" with the near-side of the belly section near the heel, especially in SE.

It's a bit like an ulu knife or disc-shaped cutter with a break welded on.

I would go for a dodo fly. The reverse s is a great edc shape.

This would really be a great companion knife. I would love to see this in LC200N Salt form.

I'm definitely getting the BHQ Dodo, and I would get any variation of PE or SE Dodofly or Cricketfly. The handle molds are already there, they just need to change the blade shape. Easy peasy! :D
