Who has a Roadie?
Who has a Roadie and what do you think of the knife?
I am about to buy a couple as gifts so I thought I would seek advice from Spyderville citizens.

Re: Who has a Roadie?
I received a roadie at the Amsterdam meet a number of years ago. The blade is thick with a short blade height, but it is still a capable knife as a box opener, as well as a emergency sausage and cheese cutter. My girlfriend confiscated this knife as her first Spydie and she has been enjoying it. I think it's super slim profile, light weight and non threatening look makes it great for non knife people. I think it'll make a great gift! :)

I love the handle ergos more than the ladybug, but it's so thick. Still waiting for Spydercos take on a traditional slipjoint

Re: Who has a Roadie?
I have one and have purchased 2 others for family members as gifts. They are all traditional slipjoint fans (my father and grandfather) but both have given me nothing but positive feedback over the last year. I almost always catch them carrying them when I ask them to show what they're carrying. Their only complaint is sharpening them, but that's just because they are more familiar with 1095 or other carbon steels. I like the finger pinch but want to modify mine to a one hand opener like traditional patterns.

Super unthreatening, super svelte - it would be a great gift for non-Knife people.

Re: Who has a Roadie?
Too thick of a blade stock for its overall size. I understand it was done to accommodate the dimples, but that doesn't make up for this shortcoming.
Re: Who has a Roadie?
I agree. If it were either less expensive or thinner I would have already bought one.this_is_nascar wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2019 3:21 pmToo thick of a blade stock for its overall size. I understand it was done to accommodate the dimples, but that doesn't make up for this shortcoming.
At the current price, I would like thinner blade stock. My desire for a slipjoint at this class is sated by the original Clipitool and if not constrained by lock type, the Ladybug, Manbug, or Starling.
Re: Who has a Roadie?
I'm gonna buy one and thin the blade.

Re: Who has a Roadie?
Aside from size, how does it compare to the Pingo?

Not a good apple slicer. I thinned mine a lot, so I can’t compare.
