Knife Vs. Pork Covered in Jeans
Knife Vs. Pork Covered in Jeans
Just curious, has anyone tried to cut a chunk of pork covered in jeans with a Cricket and a Ladybug? Just curious which one would do the most damage to that chunk of pork.
Re: Knife Vs. Pork Covered in Jeans
I definitely have not, but as a non native speaker in English I understood your thread title in a funny way at first: Like "What is better suited to be covered in jeans: A knife or pork... :D

By "a chunk of pork covered in jeans" you're talking about a human leg right? Lol

I usually dress my pork in apple juice, pineapple or BBQ sauce and try to keep the bugs out.

properly cooked, the pork should be tender and the jeans will slide off easily. Maybe revisit your recipe?

Haven’t tried cooking with textiles. Do they hold a marinade well?

I know I could loose some weight, but name calling? Is that necessary?

Re: Knife Vs. Pork Covered in Jeans
It's a legitimate question. I think he meant pork covered jeans like this....
Video's in French but you'll get the idea. A small blade can make big cuts.

Found this VHS vid of Mr. Janich on youtube doing his porkman demo with a 1/2inch box cutter. Bearing in mind that a Ladybug has a 1.7" edge and the Cricket a 1.6" edge this should give you an idea.
https://youtu.be/9PWmRWjDhYw
(This doesn't look like something you posted to youtube Mike so if you want me to take it down let me know.)
And to answer OP's question, I bet they'll cut about the same if they're both sharp.

Re: Knife Vs. Pork Covered in Jeans
I keep picturing Elvis swingin' a Spydie: a chunk, a chunk of burnin' pork...
Fred Perrin could certainly carve up a nice pork loin with a small La Griffe. With a small blade you're not going to be cutting through the material you're attacking as much as doing damage via numerous wounds. Think death by a thousand cuts...unless you sever major blood vessels.
That said, I prefer to use my knives for more mundane tasks. (But I'm no knife fighter.)

Search for "Dr. Snubnose Meat test database". Lots of good info there.
Re: Knife Vs. Pork Covered in Jeans
The answer to your question is the Cricket. The first half of the blade is Hawkbill styled ( like what you see on a karambit) where as the Ladybug is a Drop point. As you drag a Hawkbill blade across material, the material is easily fed into the curve of the blade. Check out Michael Janich's video talking about creating the Yojimbo 2. In the video, he talks about blade shapes and their benefits.

Re: Knife Vs. Pork Covered in Jeans
I prefer pork covered in beans.
If this is a serious question it is missing the more important question. It is not which one will make a bigger cut but which one you can actually hold onto well enough to even make a cut like that.
In my opinion, if you made a high impact cut with either one of those knives you will lose your grip on the knife. There is a minimum amount of purchase you need on a knife to cut like that and neither of these knives have it.
