Knife Vs. Pork Covered in Jeans

Just curious, has anyone tried to cut a chunk of pork covered in jeans with a Cricket and a Ladybug? Just curious which one would do the most damage to that chunk of pork.

I usually dress my pork in apple juice, pineapple or BBQ sauce and try to keep the bugs out.

properly cooked, the pork should be tender and the jeans will slide off easily. Maybe revisit your recipe?

Found this VHS vid of Mr. Janich on youtube doing his porkman demo with a 1/2inch box cutter. Bearing in mind that a Ladybug has a 1.7" edge and the Cricket a 1.6" edge this should give you an idea.

Fred Perrin could certainly carve up a nice pork loin with a small La Griffe. With a small blade you're not going to be cutting through the material you're attacking as much as doing damage via numerous wounds. Think death by a thousand cuts...unless you sever major blood vessels.

That said, I prefer to use my knives for more mundane tasks. (But I'm no knife fighter.)

The answer to your question is the Cricket. The first half of the blade is Hawkbill styled ( like what you see on a karambit) where as the Ladybug is a Drop point. As you drag a Hawkbill blade across material, the material is easily fed into the curve of the blade. Check out Michael Janich's video talking about creating the Yojimbo 2. In the video, he talks about blade shapes and their benefits.

If this is a serious question it is missing the more important question. It is not which one will make a bigger cut but which one you can actually hold onto well enough to even make a cut like that.

In my opinion, if you made a high impact cut with either one of those knives you will lose your grip on the knife. There is a minimum amount of purchase you need on a knife to cut like that and neither of these knives have it.
