Sal: Better scales for Urban LW?

#1

Post by Doc Dan »

Hi Sal,

My wife wants to get me a knife for our 20th Anniversary the end of this year. I was wanting a slip joint as it is acceptable in more places that I go. My favorite brand is Spyderco and I really like the Urban LW for size and utility, though a UKPK would be okay.

I was wondering (you mentioned this before) if it would be possible for you all to make this knife, or the UKPK, with bone, stag, polished ivory G10, or something nice?

(Yes, I know, production, time, cost, etc., but no harm in asking)

(She likes the Ti Delica and the One Eyed Jack)

Thanks

Seconded.
You sound like a lucky man.

And I think you're right. There's no harm in asking. :D

I know that spyderco has made the UKPK in Ti before.

It's discontinued, so maybe upgraded handles on slip joints weren't a great seller? Or maybe it's something they'll try again?

Cascadi might be your best bet in the short term.

Even an Elmax or M390 or K390 blade with FRN scales (dark blue or very dark grey) would be okay. Dark Olive/Black Olive RAL-6015 is a nice color. RAL-7021 black grey, RAL-3007 Black Red, and RAL-9001 Cream are all nice colors for FRN.
