Freedom Wins in New York - DA Vance & Cuomo Finally Capitulate!

After 9 years of effort, 8 years of costly Federal litigation, 3 bills passed overwhelmingly and the terrifying threat of losing big time at the U.S. Supreme Court, New York Governor Cuomo signed A5944, repealing the state's bans on Gravity Knives (while leaving the definition intact). By repealing these bans and making gravity knives legal, New York City and District Attorney Cyrus Vance, Jr., can no longer abuse the definition of a gravity knife and continue to unconstitutionally arrest and prosecute persons by claiming that a common lockblade folding knife or utility knife is an illegal gravity knife. The repeal is effective immediately.

Nice, does that mean people can carry clipped again? Or just carry "gravity" knives?

I am hoping Ohio repeals the auto law here, we have a bill up currently.

That’s a step in the right direction. Cuomo et al are panicked right now because they’re about to get their a** handed to them over banning transport of firearms in NYC ANYWHERE EXCEPT between the residence and a shooting range. As in, you can’t take them out of the city. The mind boggles. They’re so worried about it they tried to wiggle out of the SCOTUS case by moving to repeal that piece of the law. Which as far as I can see is an admission of guilt. And of course they fear SCOTUS striking down unconstitutional law more broadly and setting a precedent which bolsters RKBA. Here’s hoping!!!

We now need to repeal the Federal 1958 switchblade Act. This stupid unneeded Federal act was because James Dean used a switchblade knife in the 1955 movie Rebel without a cause, it got the 1958 switchblade Act introduced to Congress by Senator Peter F. Mack (D-Illinois) you just have to know it was a Democrat who got it started.

They thought the movie was going to cause wide use of these then cheap imported and worthless knives by gangs roaming the streets of America and stabbing everyone they found.

I have contacted my states Congressman, asking his help in repealing this 1958 switchblade Act.

Still not legal clipped - and apparently not legal on subways - just seeing if NYC will enact city laws
