Pretty dang hard to work with.
Rather than knives per belt it's belts per knife and the steel ain't cheap to buy either.
Not for everyone.

I feel like this was a strategic release to keep people from asking about it at bladeshow next week lol.

I want to see the Para 3 Maxamet in stock. Before that I don't believe that Maxamet is back, and big.

I know my day did. This is one knife I told myself I would get if they become available. Even though I got the DLC 20cv yesterday I couldn't pass it up.

One small step for knives, one giant leap for the knife community :D

Good one, Shawn. So, where does Maxamet stand among the other top tier blade steels you are working with and testing these days? Has the king been knocked off his throne, or does he still reign?Deadboxhero wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2019 3:45 pm

For production stuff? Yea cuts the longest with what you can get off the shelf with trade offs of course. Custom world has a lot more options to play with not impeded by needing to make huge volume.blues wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2019 3:48 pmGood one, Shawn. This one is tough! I want one but I don't like to impulse buy on a $200 item.
I'm glad it's back though.

Assume much? Made no comments about price either way.Deadboxhero wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2019 12:16 pmAs some one that makes knives with steels like this. I'd say, yes thanks.

Not for everyone.
Only posted the price so people can make up there own minds about the price without having to click on a link..
Just because a $201 Para 2 is worth it to to you doesn't make it worth $201 to everyone else..or it could be worth more that that to everyone else..horses for courses.
I will be buying a Maxamet Millie when and if Spyderco can figure out how to deal with the longer blade length. I think the price could be be in the $230 to $250 range. I will pay it because it will be worth it to me.
A $250 Millie? Not for everyone.

Re: Maxamet Paramilitary 2...return of the king!
I'm not in the market for one, mostly bc I'm happy with another steel, but it's a cool knife. I'm glad everyone who has been drooling for the past two years or whatever will be able to snag one sooner rather than later, and I'm SUPER glad Spyderco pushes the envelope and experiments with different steels!
My collection so far: 52100 Military (2); 52100 PM2 (2); 52100 Para3; Stretch2 V-Toku; KnifeWorks M4 PM2; BentoBox M390 PM2; BentoBox S90V Military; Police4 K390; S110V PM2; SS Delica AUS-6; Wayne Goddard Sprint VG-10
Wish list: Hundred Pacer; Sliverax; Mantra; 52100 PM2 SE; Kapara

Way easier to sharpen
I agree with easier to sharpen, but not by a lot.
