Next Steel for Sprint Run

#1

Post by Skinner »

Any speculation on the next steel for the usually yearly Delica/endura/etc. sprint run? I am always up for a stretch. Would love to see something along the lines of k390

Voting for something as close to CPM-CRUWEAR as possible in a solid unclad steel. Ive heard Hap5R and SRS-15 can be made similar via heat treats. Doesn't nessecarily need to have the exact same composition, but something similar performance-wise. Extremely tough, easy to sharpen, nearly stainless, and edge retention on par with S30V/S35VN/M390.

On color, I would like to see an earth tone FRN like OD Green, FDE, Tan/Khaki, Foliage Green, etc.

I feel like an unclad CPM-CRUWEAR-esque steel paired with an earth tone FRN would be more than popular enough to warrant running each model in both TiCN and Satin. There is a severe lack of TiCN coated plain edge models out of Seki, and CRUWEAR-like steel with earth tone FRN is a perfect combination to see it with.

As for models, I would love to see the Endela, both new Dragonflies, and the Jester included in this run.

If it's k390 I'll undoubtedly buy them all.

K390 Dragonfly would be a must-have-multiples for me.

K390 sounds great. Especially heat treated like the police. I'd also go along with Steelcity's idea about a Cruwear type/analog steel if it was possible. An Endura or Stretch in that grade would be like finding a real unicorn in my backyard.

I'd like to see K490. It's like M4, but tougher and a should be between M4 and CPM Cruwear in corrosion resistance.

Id be up for some 10V. Saw Triple B handmade playing with some 26C3 'spicy white' steel, sounded intriguing.

If they already have K390 over there and they are already familiar with heat treating it then it seems like an obvious choice.

Don't be so sensible, Darby. :p K390 Stretch would be cool.

Laminated COS for the Seki models. No idea what is in store for the Golden models.

I'd like to see a sprint run of CPM-3V in three Golden folders with a new G10 color the same way they sprung three Rex45 models on us last year. Put it in some models that don't get the usual sprint love. Manix XL, Native, and Military sounds like a good trio. Maybe throw in the Chief for good measure. Do half the run in DLC and half in stonewash.

I would like to try k390 in something small like a Baby Horn.

I'd love to see a midsize knife in clad K390 or a clad K390 chaparral.

I don't need the cladding. Solid K390 would be just fine. I'd take clad too, for corrosion resistance. But I'm happy either way.

I was really afraid of carrying my K390 Urban everyday but with a little oil I've not seen a spot on it. Then again I don't use it for food prep or anything.

I'd buy unclad ones also, but clad would be grail level useful.
