We all speak a bit of heresy now and then

#1

Post by Skidoosh »

I'm flipping open my Caly 3 and start to wonder- what would a Caly be like with a liner lock?
Backlocks are OK but not my go to.
A Caly 3 or 3.5 in a liner lock,
What think ye?

A liner lock Caly of any kind would be an abomination. :D

Please NO for me!!! ;)

But in principle I get what you mean: If it were the other way round, the Caly would be a genuine LINER lock knife and someone would propose a backlock version, I'd be all for it.

Not sure what a Caly 3 with a liner lock would bring to the table compared with a Sage 1.

I would like a small LW FRN liner lock made in Golden so we can get steels like CRUWEAR, 4V, etc. A Sage 1 LW would work, a Caly 3 LW would be awesome. And a mid-size FRN liner lock like a Tenacious LW made in Golden would be very cool.

I really like liner locks. I like the ability to close easily with gloves. Easy one hand open/close. I even think the fidget factor is pretty high with these. I fidget more with my Tenacious than my Para 3.

I like the Calys the way they are, but I wouldn’t complain if their vertical blade play was zero...

I've got a soft spot for liner locks, so I wouldn't mind seeing more of them!

I think the only relevant question about locks is whether or not a knife has one. Even with quality knives like Spyderco one shouldn’t let the presence of a lock induce a casual attitude toward knife safety.

Yep, I was flipping my GB1 and thought about the solid lockup on it.
I haven't mentioned the PB washers or K390 steel.

I would love to have a C-54 big Calypso model with a compression lock. I would love to even see how a Caly Jr. would do with a Ball Bearing lock.
