The new lightweights

#1

Post by gull wing »

Is anyone bothered by the rough finish at the clip area?
In putting in pocket and taking out, it sounds like saw teeth working on my pants.
Has anyone tried to ease this ?

Now I love these new lightweights.

We must have different “lightweights”. My Chaparral FRN and my Para 3 LW have smooth areas under the clip contact area, so that’s not my experience.
Overheard at the end of the ice age, “We’ve been having such unnatural weather.”

No problems with Chap LW. It slides in and out of the pocket of my blue jeans with ease. The Native LW isn't exactly new. So unless they've made a recent change I'm not sure why you'd refer to it as new. I have seen people complain that the clip contacts the handle pretty close to where the texturing is and it causes a problem for them. Not really an issue for me but it is a little harder on the pockets.
Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most!

No problems whatsoever concerning rough finish at the clip area on my particular Chap LW (also not on my Enduras, Stretches and Delica. Not exactly NEW lightweights though).

Had a Native lw for some time, no problems either...
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

Can't say I've noticed any problems on the new lightweights that have wire clips.

I solved my problem.
Sanded the clip side scale down and took off about .010" , so the "Bug" disappears , it's smooth now, in and out of pocket.

How does it look?
The casual observer can't tell it's different. I used wet/dry from 80G thru 400G, then scrubbed with WD40 soaked tooth brush.
Happy now! ;)
