Sal can we expect some sprint run/exclusive runs of the Sage 5 LW in different colors/steels? Thx. A Sage 5 LW in K390 would be pretty cool.
Anything is possible.
I'm carrying one today. I wouldn't mind one in K390.
sal
This would be great since the sage and k390 are both favorites of mine.

Got mine yesterday. Very nice.
Surprised about the handle color (black). It appeared grey-ish in a lot of pics.

Really loving the improved action. 1) improved detent (similar to Para 3 LW) 2) free-falling blade w/o blade play due to that pivot bushing :)

...It also adds the options of colors and steels that many of you have asked for in this pattern. Hope that makes sense.

This is exactly what I was hoping for with the LW Sage. I own an M390/Red Para 3 LW and I'm absolutely in love with it.

It's such an exciting time to be a knife enthusiast!

"Improved detent": (As a non native speaker in English) may I ask: Do you mean by that, that the blade has more "bias" to stay closed? Or,in other words, the "force" that keeps the knife closed is enhanced? (Really don´t know how to put that question better... :o )
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

Yes, more resistance to opening. And has an overall different feel to it from the Sage 5 CF :)

Sounds good... This knife somehow "connects" with me, despite me being generally not a small-folder and not a comp.lock guy... (though for some reason I like comp. locks more on smaller knives than on larger, more "hard use" ones).

Does it offer a full four finger grip behind the choil for you (and what hand size do you have, if I may ask?)?

Yes, it does. I'd say I have small to medium hands.

Thanks! I have L to XL though, so not sure how it would be with mine..

I got mine yesterday, and it is a great knife. I have a Garnet Para 3 LW with M390, and I like this knife more in every way, other than blade steel and color. It just feels much more solid and higher quality to me. The scales are not sharp in the inside like the P3, and the stainless liners and spacers make a difference. The action is better, the blade is centered better, and the grip feels better. Very happy with it. Really could not have been more pleased based on my expectations for it.

Wartsein,

A bit longer than the Native 5 if you happen to be familiar with the Native 5. Native 5 is very snug for me and 4 fingers, the Sage 5 fits my 4 fingers better. My gloves are L & XL and I tend to prefer a little room in them vs being tight or snug.

CG, thanks a lot, that really helps. As a matter of fact I sold my Native 5 for the reason it did NOT offer a comfortable four finger grip behind the choil and I did not like that (the other reason was, that the Chaparral offers the same amount of actual edge in a much slimmer and "slicier" package).

So if the Sage 5 is "better" in that regard, that´s good (it also offers 10 % more cutting edge than the Native in a similar package and a slightly thinner blade. Both pros for me personally. What speaks for the Native though is its greatly executed backlock).

In my book the Sage 5 should get all the small knife sprints and versions the Para 3 has seen, for the Sage 5 should be a better fit for a greater variety of hand sizes (due to the hook at the rear end of the handle the Para 3 should have a lot less usable grip area behind the choil). And the much thinner stock (but still thick for such a small blade) is another plus for the Sage imho.

I Love this knife. I like my Para 3 LW but I feel like this is superior in every way. Definitely worth the wait!
