Finally pulled the trigger on a Lil’ Native.

Should have bought one earlier! I love the Dragonfly, I have 3 of them, but I never carry them? Although this LN isn’t that much more larger, it’s definitely a more substantial, stouter knife than the DF!

I’ve lobbied for a larger Dragonfly XL for several years here as other members have, for me it was for several reasons, one being the handle shape, the handle shape and feel of this Lil’ Native just went to the top of the list for me, it’s absolutely my favorite handle shape!

Now, if this LN was 6.5” / 6.75” overall length, it would eliminate a lot of my Spyderco collection!

Congratulations on the Lil Native. Many knives at my disposal and I always seem to end up with my DLC LN when some heavy cutting needs to be done. Have fun and enjoy your new Spyderco.

Good choice. The Lil’ Native is one of those “sleeper” designs, being much more useful and effective than is first apparent.

The Native 5 is 6.875" overall length. Not a whole lot more than what you're after! ;)

Agreed, but it wouldn’t be a compression lock or have this handle shape! I have a G10 Native 5 which I love also.

Could you put up some pictures side by side with DF and Native 5 if possible, would especially like to see handle width comparison.
Thanks in advance!

Every time I need to use my Lil Native I'm reminded why it continues to stay in my EDC rotation while others have come and gone.

I could throw up some comparison pics but I've only got the Native5 CF/S90V and the DF Salt PE
All lined up at the Pivot for reference.

I've carried my new Lil Native everyday except for one since I bought it! Loving it more and more each day! Although it's less than a half inch longer than the Dragonfly, if feels like it's substantially more knife!

It wouldn't be such a sleeper if they'd do a sprint already :D

Love mine. Stout little thing.

Sorry, guys, I really don´t want to go off topic, but looking at that great pic, please allow me to do a little side step:

I am sure the Lil´Native is a great knife (never had one), but that pic makes clear for me once more why I love my Chap (FRN in my case) that much:
Closed length only slightly longer than the Lil Native (by 3mm), slimmer and lighter in pocket (though linered!), but much more actual edge (by 9mm, or 2.35 to 2.02). Additionally slicy 2 mm blade stock, that´s more than 1/3 thinner than the Lil´Native stock (3.2 mm). Perfect for such a small knife.

My apologies again for going off topic, blame it to my Chap-passion. Now back to the Lil´Native! ;)
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

Austria may not have knife restrictions but some US cities do. Boston does, and since I go there, I need to keep its absurd 2.5 inch restriction in mind. Somehow I got it in my head a Chap qualified. Wrong!

So, now I have a compelling reason for the Lil’ Native other than my liking of the Native variations.

Warstein. I have both a lil native and a chap.
I understand that the blade geometries favor the chap.
But that doesn't make the LN less capable by any wide margin.
The LN is something you use when you need to go to town on something. I've never worried about breaking my ln the same way i do with the chap

I bet we will see an exclusive before the end of the year. Guessing BHQ M4, St Nicks 4V, or Cutlery Shoppe XHP. I sold mine and am waiting for an exclusive now as well! Nice little knife!

I do wish we would see some jimping on the spine and choil on future runs. That is my only complaint about this model.
