Touched mine up today on the medium and fine. Didn't take much time at all to get it really sharp again. I wish this knife was released 4 years ago... Would have saved me a lotttt of money lol
Still have the bhq para3?
Nope. The para 3 lw is my only para 3 currently

I'm really impressed with this knife. I like it a lot better than the G-10 Para3, which I re-sold almost immediately. I bought the serrated model, and soon after had to resist the urge to pair it with a plain edge model. (I'm going to wait for a sprint run.)

The lighter weight really differentiates it from the PM2 for me, making it a nice casual carry for EDC in a way that the PM2 is not.

I also like the clever engineering that went into this one, to simplify the construction while still staying tough and reliable. This is impressive in a way that shows Spyderco's learnings over the years and how far we've come since the first Paramilitary which cemented my love for Spyderco.

Sal and Eric, the Golden crew, and the rest of the Spyderco team, you did amazing. I'm looking forward to future releases that show off the same skill and talent that went into designing and making of this one.

Yes!!! My para3 lw just arrived last night! What a beauty! I've been wanting this exact knife for years and Spyderco had delivered! I can't wait too see what kind of cool Sprint runs and exclusives come out of this one. Thanks to the awesome team at Spyderco for listening to your customers and coming through with an awesome knife!

Just got mine in the mail today. Seems like a terrific knife! Very slick action, perfectly centered, and the scale texture is much less harsh than my Native LW, it slips in and out of the pocket a lot more smoothly. I'm very interested to try out this steel.

Anyone else notice that BD1N has a distinctive smell when you sharpen it?

Haven't noticed that but I've only touched mine up on the Sharpmaker at this point

No ...not the smell! I have noticed the steel "texture" is different then the other non nitrogen "stainless " satin ground blades from Golden. I usually use Mothers or some other type of metal polish on my satin blades when I first buy them. I polished the BD1N when I received the knife and there was almost no discoloration (polish turns black rubbing into steel) or benefit from buffing the BD1N. ...very cool steel!

Got mine last night, and it was perfect right out of the box! Super sharp, drop shut action just like my G10 model, very comfortable to use and doesn't feel like you're carrying anything. I had to keep checking to make sure it was still in my pocket. Love this knife! My wife said it felt like a toy though... Probably due to the frn scales... Lol it is anything but though...

I can get a little flex going, but not much. The frn scales are very rigid. I don't think you'll ever deform them while using the knife unless you really try to.

Apologies to all, I had intended to give my thoughts on the para 3 lightweight once I got it, then life happened.
The short version is it’s everything I’d hoped it would be and has been my edc exclusively for a few weeks now. My example is perfect except for some detent slop while in the closed position, enough to rattle when shaken. Detent action and strength is spot on but a bit out of spec.
Other than that it’s my new favourite

Watching YouTube videos and someone brought up the fact the stop pin sits in plastic and not steel - is it really that big a deal?

I don't see how it could be an issue unless you pry with your knife or run over it with a car.

The stop pin is held on the lock side by a partial liner, and there seems to be a metal insert molded into the frn on the non-lock side. Looks pretty secure to me!

just another quick question. does the para 3 frn and g10 fit the same blade. if so i would like to buy the s110v g10 and swap the blade from a lw model. as i also could wait for the blurple frn s110v version as well.
