Original Paramilitary takedown (pics)

Post by RLR »

The original Paramilitary is still one of my favourites. It was tight, let me toy with the detente, all all ‘round tinker. I still use it and beat it up. I took it apart today to clean and lube, so I thought I’d post the exploded view.

I love this style of detente. Note the hammer marks, Dremel marks, and bend in the lockbar. It’s perfect now (very tight and biased closed). Also had to add a “pivot screw” through the lanyard hole (lost tube or whatever was there) and changed all screws T8.

Enjoy.

Nice. I like mine, but the detent is not so tight. How can I make it stronger?
- best wishes, Jazz.

Did you mod the choil?

This knife is as smooth as glass. :)

Yes. Dremel with a 1/4” diamond drum as shown below (side of detente recess closest to pivot.)
DISCLAIMER - if not careful you will ruin the knife.
NOTE - Original had no jumping on the finger choil.
NOTE 2 - I even “enlarged” and tweaked the tang that falls into the recess. That was a little scarier. Hammer, nail set, patience and fear.
