What does that “grippy” G-10 look like?

Being curious, I snapped a close up of my Para 3 G-10:

i think cold steel has the grippiest g10. that stuff will tear up your pockets and your hands.
keep your knife sharp and your focus sharper.

One of my all time favorite Spyders with a G-10 handle is the C-60 Ayoob, 2011 Sprint Run. I don't understand it quite either>> because the G-10 on that model is a really fine textured G-10 but the grip factor seems excellent to me. Maybe the overall design of the C-60 Ayoob handle might play into it somewhat. But regardless of that the G-10 they used in that particular model is great IMO.

I've owned a couple of Carbon Fiber Spyderco knives with "peel ply" handles but I've not yet got a G-10 handled Spyder with a "peel ply" handle. But I sure liked the Carbon Fiber with the peel ply type of handle so I'm sure I would like it in G-10 Peel Ply also,.

I’m amazed, as well.

I am not looking at the 100 Pacer here but on your HAP 40 Stretch!! Did you do that sheepsfoot-mod deliberately or did you have to, after breaking the tip? Great and very precise work in any case, though honestly I would not do it to mine but rather keep the longer original blade...

EDIT: And IS this the HAP 40 Stretch blade actually?! Sure it´s the burnt orange handle of the HAP 40 Stretch 1, but I can detect no cladding on the blade and the "lines" on the steel look different to any HAP 40 I´ve ever seen... ?!
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

The G-10 of some of the Lionsteel manufactured DPx knives has a very coarse G-10. It's like sharp and pointy. I think I took pictures of it next to normal peel-ply a long time ago.

Comparing the Waterway to Spydercos peel-ply G10 is like comparing an Endura 4's texture to a Swiss Army Knife. Whole new level of grip!

This is actually a Stretch in ZDP-189 that I bought from a person on Blade Forums; he was selling a carbon fiber used Stretch that he had carried for many years and had sharpened it so much that the tip of the blade was sticking out above the scales.

I reground the tip to the shape that you see now and put it into a the set of Stretch scales that you see + added a backspacer; it's a cutter for sure!

Below is an image of a before & after; I put the HAP-40 blade into the Carbon Fiber scales and that is a now a user as well...

Thanks for the reply and posting the pics!

That´s great work you did to the Stretch and sure the best you could do to this already shortened blade! The sheepsfoot looks like a very usefull cutting tool for many tasks- a rather short blade in a very comfortable and roomy handle. Would not like that as my ONLY Stretch, but additional to a regular one I reckon it´s a pleasure to have.

But what is really stunning to me: The amount of use the pre-owner of the Stretch obviously got out of the blade: I mean, that´s not VG 10 or something, but ZDP 189!! To sharpen away THAT steel so that in the end the tip is sticking out above the scales really takes some time I guess... So, either this guy REALLY used his knife a lot (and probably did not have much of a rotation), or he just did a lot more sharpening than would be necessary...

BEfore the year is over I've just got to get one of those. It has an upswept blade similar to my hallowed Spyderco C-60 Ayoob model which is one of my all time favorites and mainly for that reason too. I just love blades with a belly on them. Especially in a pocket knife and one with a premium steel blade too. I've got a C-36 Military model with XHP steel in it and just love it>> not as much as the M390 Military but I still love it.

I can see how the G-10 on that handle would be almost completely "SLIP PROOF". I bet it's got an incredible grip factor to it
