OT-Weekend Camping Pics

#1

Post by CKE »

Well I've had time to get some of my long weekend camping/fishing pics ready. Still getting used to the digicam. Thanks to all those who gave me some pointers(especially Samo).

Went fishing a couple of times and I managed to catch two small walleye and a really small perch(see pic) I must of snagged the perch because once you see the fish there is no way it bit my bait. The bait was just as big. hahahaha! Unfortunately I was too busy taking the walleye of my line that I didn't get any pics(now you are all going ya sure) but seriously I am a bit of a camera hog and my fiance had not really taken any pics with it so she did not reach for it. Too bad. They were about a pound and a half each. Not very big but the fishing was slow.

Ah now the good stuff. Spydies that accompanied me were my Millie(reason for the Millie help thread) and my newishly acquired Salsa with neck rig. Well the Millie performed perfectly as usuall preping meals, cutting line, EDC stuff and anything else that popped up.

The Salsa amazed me this weekend(again thank Patrick!!!!) I am going to go on the record by saying neck carry is now one of my most fav ways of tot'in a blade. I hardly knew it was there all weekend till I needed it. Great little EDC with combe edge. I gave it to my friends sister-in-law to peel a log she wanted(must have been bored or something) She refused the blade at first because she didn't want to break it.Ha a laughed and she said OK. About half a log later she came into the camp and said she had had enough of my sharp knife> she cut herself(not badly) but enough to curb her boredom. Covered in sap I just ran it under the hot water(yes they have running water a pump from the lake, and a hot water heater, they intend to retire up there)and it cleaned up perfectly no guck on the inside. Love the open back design!

All in all it was a good weekend and a great B-Day. My Fiancee got me the SAS Survival Handbook and some coffee(I love coffee), and my Perrin will be in any day now.I'll post pics of the Perrin and a review once it is in hand.

Hope you enjoy the pics, take care!

Another pic. My buddy and I went off roading with the 4 wheelers a couple times as well. Took this just after we went through a wash out twice as long as this one.

And the last two. One of the downfalls of logging. A reality everywhere in the world. These were just two of about ten cuts in the area.

As a retired Ontario forester, we should have a talk about those clearcuts. Really, it is only a temporary condition!!

p.s. remind me not to hire you as a fishing guide <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Glad you and your <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>s had a great weekend <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Craig> told yah you would like the neck carry and salsa. My ss 'fly is a 24/7, sleeping and everything. take it off for shower and thats pretty much it.

have it setup so the pivot curve sits over my sternum when standing up straight. having clip out allows me to lay down on top of it.

4 s ter I know I know, I work for the logging industry mainly. A hydraulic shop and most of our customers are logging companies, they keep me employed.
Just a shame to see, though I could have taken pics of the vast forests we have...next time!
Not so hard on the guide comments you'll hurt my feelings.
