Suggestions for new Clipitool Standard tools

#1

Post by SG89 »

What tools would you like to see implemented for the next Clipitool Standard model? *Talking the large G10 version not the smaller stainless versions*

I would like to see a version with scissors.

I would like a full flat grind blade, a saw and an awl, similar to the Victorinox Bushcrafter.

This, plus a can opener/screwdriver.

If they could also fit a Phillips screwdriver in, that would be tops!

I am positively surprised: It seems that there are not many supporters of saws in a multiple- (or two) bladed Spyderco, but I am one and obviously you too.
Your choice is exactly what I´d like to see, ffg blade, awl (very underestimated tool imho) and saw. Though I would like to have some combined screwdrivrer / scraping / prying - thing in addition. To accomodate all that, the awl would maybe have to be positioned on the opposite side of the handle. Or the saw would have to be counstructed a little compromised and quite sturdy and have the screwdriver at the tip
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

In addition to my post above: I´d like to see the main (ffg knife-) blade in a better steel; VG10, S30V, CTS HXP would be good choices.

How much would a steel upgrade increase the price?

I'll admit that the low end steel is one of the things keeping me away from the ClipiTools.

A price increase would probably be the death sentence for this knife. The "pricier" Alcyone and Polestar don't seem to sell as well as the cheaper value folders and they have BD1 steel

They’re already too expensive. $53 is a lot of money for an entry level knife and I don’t think enthusiasts gravitate to these kinds of knives (and when they do they go with Victorinox).

If I changed anything it would be the size. Very large for entry level. But honestly I don’t think I’d ever carry one of these and I can’t see recommending them over something more basic like a Persistence or a Dragonfly.

I would like a version with both the rescue SE and standard PE blades and a flathead/prying tool.
