Howdy all,
My production sample just came in, so I guess I’m slightly ahead of the curve. ;)

Hope those folks interested find it as fun to cut AND fidget with as I am... having trouble getting anything else done this evening with the Ikuchi around to play with.

For those looking forward to the retail release, the wait shouldn’t be much longer, now.

- Paul
I've watched all videos featuring the ikuchi. Especially the knivesandtools one left a good impression. You smiled a lot and seemed genuinely happy about your journey to this point in your life. I still think the famine was a better name, so I'm just gonna call it that but otherwise you're guaranteed a sale from me!
Also watched that knivesandtools-video, and even if I probably still won´t buy an Ikuchi, the atmosphere in the vid and the passion Paul has for it´s designs was really good to see.
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

I am going to get one. With any luck I'll be one of the first in line. Watching the video and reading some of the forum posts have really piqued my interest in this knife.

I like the design, and might even give it a try despite my suspicion that it’ll too small for my hand but the wire clip is a deal breaker. I get that it’s probably actually the right clip for this knife but I just don’t use my wire clipped knives. (Probably going to end up selling them off or giving away to a couple family members) They dig in and move around in use. The only aftermarket replacement clips I’ve seen for them are way too pricey to make a swap worthwhile.

Wire clips are the bomb. All I carry any more are LW FRN with wire clips. Fantastic for EDC and 90% of my cutting needs. I've started carrying a small fixed blade (2.5" - 3.5") for the other 10%.

Since Paul Has disassembled his production sample, I’m pretty sure it's washers. If I were Eric, traveling all over to shows, I think I'd have a hard time talking about, and keeping straight, every detail, of every model, all the time.

Especially with all the tweaks going on throughout the preproduction process. I know I'd have difficulty keeping the details straight.

So correct me if I’m wrong but this will be the first Spyderco flipper without ball bearings?
You are wrong. The Ouroboros has washers (which is also Paul's design).

Hopefully with the Smock setting the new standard for detent in a Spyderco flipper, the Ikuchi will be great as well. I love the design of the Sliverax but the detent for flipping is weak at best.

Yeah, the Ouroboros isn’t a flipper...so that makes me correct? :D

Happy to hear it’s riding on washers.
I’ve been back and forthing on this one, pb washers might just get me there

Same. Washers might tip the scales in favor. It's a pass if bearings.

Hahahaha of course there wasn’t. That was such a weird knife.
