Would you trade ...
Would you trade ...
Would you sell a ZDP stretch on the secondary, maybe get $100 +/-, with the purpose of "upgrading" to a GB folder? Costs $50-$60 to trade a ZDP stretch for the GB. Would you do it?
Uses - do not worry about it. Carried randomly in my rotation. Corrosion is not a big concern, just trying to buy a new knife without paying for all of in cash. selling old stuff is useful, but you lose a little money each time...
Is the GB handle, look, feel, etc a big upgrade over a FRN ZDP stretch?

Re: Would you trade ...
If you're saying basically would I trade a ZDP Stretch plus $50 for a GB (1 or 2?) then yeah probably, if it was for a 1 then absolutely but idk about the 2 I might prefer the Stretch over the 2.

Not sure. I like my GB2 better than my ZDP Stretch2, but only after I made the lock more accessible. Play with a GB before you decide.
On a related note, the CQI Amalgam is a great knife too, I probably like it better than the other two.

Basically - trade $50-$60 and a ZDP stretch (1 I believe) for a new Gayle Bradley
Re: Would you trade ...
No. But then, Stretch 1 is probably my absolute favorite folder ever...

Re: Would you trade ...
I really like the Stretch, but the GB is in a different class. I’d make the trade.

Re: Would you trade ...
Many people would make the trade. There is a difference, especially in the scale material. I had them both long ago though, and I preferred the Stretch, so I wouldn't do it.
Re: Would you trade ...
If you’re talking about a GB1 then there’s no question since they’re not easy to find now. You can replace the stretch no problem if you miss it.
If you're wielding the sharpest tool in the shed, who's going to say that you aren't...?
Re: Would you trade ...
I have both and they are both great. The Stretch gets carried a lot more than the GB because it is lighter and I don't worry about losing it like I would with the GB. That being said, I do think you would be making a fair trade and you wouldn't really be losing anything in the deal. My GB1 is one of the best quality Spydercos that I own and the design is very good. One Thanksgiving I carved an entire turkey with mine when the power went out and I couldn't use the electric knife. Every knife in my mothers house was as dull as could be. The GB handled the task well. My mother received a new Spyderco kitchen knife and a visit from the sharpening elf for Christmas.
Re: Would you trade ...
Is it a FRN or CF stretch? Either way, I prefer the Stretch.
I am not a huge fan of the proud liners or weight of the GB1, but other than that it is a great knife.

Re: Would you trade ...
I wouldn't. I like the ergonomics and lock on the Stretch better. The GB's do have very nice grinds, and the steel is wonderful if corrosion resistance isn't a concern.
Re: Would you trade ...
Depends on if he is talking `bout the Stretch 1 or Stretch 2...

Re: Would you trade ...
Not a huge fan of either ZDP-189 or knives with handed locks, but I love the Stretch, so I'd faster sell an FRN ZDP Stretch in order to buy an FRN VG-10 Stretch of the same era.

Re: Would you trade ...
I Would swap for a GB
The weight, the m4 and the build is the best bang for buck in the knife game. It’s like a stretch on steroids in my book
I think the GB1 is one of the best Spyderco’s made and punches way above its price tag.

Re: Would you trade ...
Well the 2 is available everywhere, the 1 can be found second hand more often than a GB1. If he’s heartbroken over the Stretch and can’t find a replacement, I’ll sell him my Superblue.

Re: Would you trade ...
Is your goal to get M4? Or an ostensibly more robust knife?
If the former, especially in an uncommon grind, go for it.
If the latter, and it’s a GB1 (I don’t know the GB2), I’d keep the Stretch, which Sal has said is one “tough hombre”. I think the Stretch has superior ergos...
But either way, you’ll keep the wonderfully versatile edge-geometry that not too many other Spydies share, the Military notably excepted.

Re: Would you trade ...
Personally I would not trade my Stretch 1, ZDP-189 for any knife still freely available. :)

Re: Would you trade ...
I prefer my Stretch 1 to my GB1. Reasons include lighter weight, better handle shape (for me), I prefer back locks to liner locks. I never carry the GB1 (inherited it, didn’t buy it) and I carry the Stretch a lot.
